A super early mock draft for sure but this isn't one for what I would do. instead It's what I think JD will based on our moves so far The first thing to notice is we loaded up on WRs. we signed 2 of them so now have a pretty solid top 4. even though 1 was on a 1 year deal he's a WR4 and can be resigned if it works out. I don't think he drafts a WR. he wasn't loaded at WR when he won in balt or philly either and SF's system doesn't require a stud WR. Seems both JD and saleh prefer a group of solid guys over having superstars. We also didn't improve the o-line. the starters for 2021 will be the same as 2020. Becton, Lewis, McGovern, GVR, Fant. with the main backups being edoga, clark, and Feeny. I think he'll draft some o-line like he did with becton and build through the draft. He likes mcgovern at C so likely a RT and an OG Outside of that maybe a TE depending on where things fall. RB is 50/50 he did draft perine. we have him ty, and adams who we resigned. Most of the focus will likely be defensive players to fit salehs scheme and likely back 7 heavy. We also signed a safety and tagged maye and have davis so i'm thinking more CB then safety. The d-line is really good as it stands. I think JFM and Lawson on the outside with Q and foley on the inside is a really good front 4. we also have depth with zuniga, hall, and shepard. Maybe we take 1 d-lineman tops. Also without making any move on the QB front and JD not comitting to darnold I think the pick at 2 is a QB That puts the jets needs at Tier 1 needs QB, O-line, LBer, DB Tier 2 TE, RB, D-line Round 1 Pick 2: Zack WIlson QB It's obvious our top pick will be a QB. it just depends which one. Wilson could jump to 1st overall but I still think the pick is tlaw. That leaves fields or wilson. Wilson looks better on film IMO and JD seems to think so as well. I think we draft wilson and likely sit him a year if we can't move darnold. Round 1 Pick 23: Jaycee Horn CB This is where it gets tricky. I think if pitts falls here, we take him. outside of that it's likely a CB. Horn will likely be the best available. If he's taken earlier I could see it being Samuel who would also thrive in a zone heavy scheme. horn fits the bill of what JD likes. versatile, athletic, high motor Round 2 Pick 2: Wyatt Davis OG Davis likely won't go in the 1st. he's projected as a high 2nd rounder. He's athletic in space and fits the zone blocking scheme perfect to take over a starting OG spot in 2022 or maybe even beat out GVR as a rookie Round 3 Pick 2: Justin Hilliard OLB A guy who has flown up draft boards as of late. Athletic , smart, with a knack in zone coverage and sniffing out run plays. high motor and could give depth at SAM and eventually start as well as be a core special teamer as a rookie which seems to be some focus for JD Round 3 Pick 22: Jamin Davis OLB A WILL backer as we badly need depth here. we have davis on a 1 year deal. Mosley who is a question mark at MLB and cashman who is always injured. JD will double up on the LBers with more rangy zone guys to fit salehs scheme. he doubles up for 2 possible future starts at OLB in the 3rd Round 4 Pick 2: Rachard Wildgoose CB JD adds another CB to the mix with also drafted horn as well as bless, guidry, hall. the fact we haven't resigned poole yet makes me feel a double dip is in order. even if we do resign poole I still think we double dip. he loves mid round CBs and wildgoose plays like his name. he's tough, fast and versatile. can play zone or man but mostly played zone in college. can move inside or outside and can also play safety. a perfect swiss army knife for saleh Round 5 Pick 2: James Wiggins S A versatile safety who can play either position and with only 3 on the roster We will draft one. This is probabl more of a me pick. IDK if JD loves this guy but I sure do. can play slot CB, ether safety position. Strong and fast and a great locker room guy. checks all the boxes. Hey JD if you read the forums check this guy out. I'd love him on the jets Round 5 Pick 10: Hunter Long TE IDK if he lasts this long but he's a projected 4-5th rounder and could be here still in a TE class thats weak and likely not to see alot of love outside pitts and friermouth. Perfect to add with herndon and hopefully move on from griffen. He can also play FB in the kyle role from SF Round 6 Pick 2: Javian Hawkins RB A pure speed back who's electric with the ball in his hands. also a good reciever out of the backfiel. fits the mold of what a RB should do in the shannahan offense. much better then his draft spot says but he's not given much love Projected lineup QB Wilson RB Hawkins/Adams FB Long (TE) TE Herndon OT Becton, Fant OG Davis, Lewis C Mcgovern WR Mims, Davis, Crowder, Cole DE JFM, Lawson DT Q, Foley OLB Cashman, Davis MLB Mosley CB Horn, Bless, Hall, Guidry S Maye, Davis, Joyner, Wiggins
I like it however I think we need more RBs on the roster for a Shanahan style offence pure and simple. I think if Etienne is there at 34 it would be really difficult to pass on him. and don’t tease me that Wilson could go 1 LOL
yup same way baker jumped sam after a year of suck for sam. I dont think it happens but it's possible. I didn't think cleveland would take baker over sam either
