Zach Wilson was bringing back Jets memories at Broncos practice.

The Denver Post reported that Wilson looked “rattled” during organized team activities (OTAs) on Tuesday and, more specifically, 11-on-11 drills with the first team, while he struggled to find a rhythm.

One play, in particular, sounded a lot like the former second-overall pick’s time with the Jets.

Wilson was caught off guard by a corner blitz from Ja’Quan McMillian before throwing a ball up for grabs which was intercepted by safety P.J. Locke.

Wilson also overthrew wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. on a deep route, missed running back Javonte Williams on a short pass and had a ball thrown to wideout Brandon Johnson broken up by cornerback Damarri Mathis.

The report does mention that Wilson’s best throw of the day came on a Mims comeback route with reports suggesting that his arm strength was noticeable.

Wilson’s overall performance during OTAs with Denver has been categorized as inconsistent.

It is the early stages of a three-man competition to be the team’s starter with Wilson, who the Jets traded to Denver this offseason, going against incumbent Jarrett Stidham and rookie Bo Nix.

Coach Sean Payton mentioned that he’s still been impressed with Wilson’s ability to pick up the offense.

“When we got Jarrett [Stidham], there was a pretty significant iPhone-to-Android adjustment there,” Payton said. “Whereas Zach’s case, there’s a little bit of similarities relative to how things are called. These guys (have) picked it up quickly.”

Stidham worked with the second-team offense, consistently and accurately peppering his receivers with completions underneath, according to the report.

I have no ill feelings towards Zach. He went to a team coached by one of the best offensive minds in the league. If he can't put Zach's career back on track nobody will. Wish him luck but I have very little confidence in Zach staying in the NFL.

P.S. Will keep this thread here for a while for better visibility then will move it to NFL Forum

He doesn't process the information fast enough from a mental standpoint to play QB at the NFL level. Going thru his reads, progressions, understanding what looks the defense is giving him. That leads to him not trusting what he is seeing which has led to him making poor decisions with the ball. If he hasn't figured it out by now (he hasn't) then I doubt he ever will.

It's not like they have spent a lot of time with the guy yet.

Because of Zach Wilson I will never again assume a high drafted QB out of college can throw a consistently accurate pass that is either behind or at the line of scrimmage.

That and then the guessing game as to whether he's going to bounce the WR screen pass five yards in front of the receiver or send it sailing into the tenth row of the stands. Payton is absolutely going to love that.

We finally moved on and yet still can’t move on. He was never good and that’s not going to change now.

I will say one thing and that is all Jets fans can finally be happy we have QB (health permitting) who can read a defense. He is one of the best to ever do it. It will be weird watching our QB making smart decisions with the ball after the failures of Darnold and Wilson.

All I have to say about Zach is that I've "held" him on my Dynasty Fantasy League Roster, figuring that maybe, just maybe, legitimate coaching by Payton does something positive for him.

He’s very good at giving the punter more room. There’s always that

It took 3+ effin' long years for some people to realize that this guy doesn't belong in the NFL. Hard to believe.

He should and will be done soon. At least he's back in Rockies country so there's that.
