God - please no. Of all the possible scenarios being floated about the last few days, this might just be the worst.
pat kirwan was my HS coach......haha. as far as bowles - he is not as rah rah as edwards and definitely knows more about the game - similar to mangini in those respects.
I feel about Bowles similarly to how I feel about Gase and Quinn. Ray Horton built that Arizona defense and took them from scratch to top 10. Bowles came in second. I can't really ascertain how much success can be attributed to him.
If it is between Quinn and Bowles (both defensive guys again) I would go for Bowles. What he did was pretty impressive this year in Arizona. Have only heard good things about him. Not my Top2 but it seems they are the Jets
I'm very interested in Bowles. would like to see him paired with Trestman as OC. 2 aggressive playcallers, with innovative qualities on their respective sides of the ball.
Miami is very talented. record doesn't reflect it b/c of poor coaching, some injuries and QB struggles.
I would acutally be ok with Bowles as coach he is a very intresting candidate even Mike Francesa says that's who he would hire if anyone gives a shit.I've liked Bowles from the start I think he would be a good fit for us
I'd like Quinn and Trestman too, but it's less likely. i think Trestman will be long gone by the time Quinn is eligible to hire.
Trestman would be PERFECT as an OC here.....The guy is historically great handling QBs and I'd love him here...A perfect fit. Hell I'd hire the guy as a head coach truthfully. As for HC, I'm not enamored with either Quinn or Bowles so if either are hired I'd be just as happy. I feel they both bring the same qualities to the table. The guy I'd love to have hired is Hue Jackson.
Not a whole lot of logic behind it other than my gut feeling about not being sold on Bowles. He would be my last option of the "hot coordinators" with no HC experience. ( I really do not take much stock in a 3 game interim stint). He has done an excellent job in Arizona. But has been a part of some less than stellar defenses throughout his tenure. I personally prefer we get a guy who has run the whole enchilada at some level. If we hire him, I will be right on board and hope I am wrong. Like most GM candidates, I don't think most of us know really enough of the internal workings of any organization as to how much credit or blame they deserve for various situation.s I know his dad was a pretty well respected executive -- so there is some pedigree there. He has been with Miami for a long time, and Miami hasn't really done a good job in building any kind of consistency. It just seems that we are keep looking for these "pairings" of GM and Coach. I feel with this approach we will end up with not necessarily both guys we really want. Are you going for the coach you want and his GM, the GM you want and a coach you like that will suit him? It seems to me unlikely in hire these duos -- you may be comprising on one.
