Ok, so we appear to have an 8 man majority to turn this into a keeper league. The question is when. If you're not in the league (NickD), please don't respond in this thread. We'll take the highest voted option. Option 1: Start this season with 2 keepers max. Expand next season to 4. Option 2: Start this season with 3 keepers. Expand next season to 4. Option 3: Start next season with 4 keepers. Soss has a good point about things being a bit skewed this year. If either of the first two options are chosen, we'll include an IR provision for one of the keepers and will impose a draft penalty. For next year's draft only, each keeper will be held at a draft position 2 slots higher than his drafted position. That means Rds 1 - 3 will all be given a 1st round value. If both of your players fall in those rounds, you lose a 1 and 2. Waiver pickups will be held at a 10th round value as opposed to the normal 12.
If we have a keeper league, shouldn't there be a max holding period? I think this is going to stink if guys can be rostered for 5 years and let go when they are done........ Otherwise, the keeper league thing stinks, there will be too many protected players.
I figured we'd address that in the offseason. A 3 year cap like Scik mentioned was about what I was thinking. I also figured if I added that stipulation about the 2 round penalty, it would swing some of the undecided vote. I like the idea of starting this year, but I didn't want it to be an automatic decision based solely on personal benefit for others.
Just thought I'd throw in how my league is. 3 max keepers 1 of the 3 can be a dynasty player. This player can be kept as long as you want, but you must draft him in his rookie season. A keeper can only be kept for 3 years max. Additionally, even if that player is dropped, his keeper years and draft status are held constant. For example: If I drafted DeAngelo Williams in round 1, and then dropped him, if someone else picks him up and decides to keep him, he's a 1st round keeper. In the same example, if I dropped him in the 2nd year, he is only keeper eligible for one more season. Lastly, if you have for example a 3rd round keeper, but you trade away your 3rd round pick, your 3rd round keeper becomes a 2nd rounder. In the case of a first rounder, you can't hold him if you don't have a first.
I thought 3 was good, but the only comment I got on number was from fenwyr. I'd be very in favor of one keeper this year and 3 next.
Fookin' hell. Fine. Can't delete the poll, but feel free to weigh in. We'll do 3 keepers like I originally suggested, and you can vote on 0, 1, or 2 keepers this season. Thanks for all contributing ideas last night lol. I like the idea of a single franchise keeper, but for this season it won't apply. No rookies will be eligible for franchise.
