It's Maccagnan season again... Here's some free agents he MIGHT look at.. (no i'm not saying we're going to sign everybody i list.. just some people i think may fit what we do) QB: - Fitz ... this is a no brainer. HB: - Forte - Ivory - bilal powell - Chris Johnson (he should've never been released as i been PREACHING forever.. terribly misused here) - Kendall Hunter - Lamar Miller (this is who i really want, paired with ivory) - Charcandrick West WR: - Josh Gordon (i wish...void this) - Rod Streater (Jersey bred... tall and fast.. why not?) - Lance Moore - Travis Benjamin - Kamar Aiken (sleeper) - Rueben Randle TE: - Vernon Davis - Ben Watson - Coby Fleener - Dwayne Allen RG: - all of them. RT: - all of them Nose Tackle: - Snacks - Pot Roast - LeTroy Guion - BJ Raji - Sam Lee Hill OLB: - Mike Neal - Von Miller (stretch but why not look) - Cam Johnson - JR Gallette (not sure if we'd like that stunt he pulled when leaving NO though) - Lamar Woodley CB: - Janoris Jenkins - Antwon Blake - Cory White P: - All but Quigley
If we can land Von, our defense is complete even without Mo. This should be a high priority signing although the market will be tough IMO.
I think the Jets should at least look for another QB and not just think about signing Fitz. I like what Fitz did this season but I'm not 100% sold. No I'm not saying start Geno. I'm not even 100% sold on Geno.
If we signed Miller , Ivory wouldn't be back. Maybe not even Bilal either. It would probably be him and a drafted RB to keep the position cheap. I like Ivory but its clear he cant put together a solid 16 games. So we need to move on from him. And Powell wore down from an expanded workload so not sure how much his worth is either.
I thought Powell took PEDs The most crucial game at Buff andhe no shows WTF Otherwise I liked him to give us that spark
I've said it in other threads, but I'll be surprised if the Jets are able to sign ANY big name outside FAs. They're going to have a hard time re-signing our own FAs that they want to keep.
Besides O-Line I thin RB is the biggest position we need to address simply because both our top backs are FA's. I wouldn't mind Lamar Miller. In general though I wouldn't mind resigning either Ivory or Powell and then pairing whatever player you keep with a draft pick.
Actually, all 3 of our RBs are FAs. Stacy was not good and is coming off IR, so hopefully he won't be back, either.
I'd offer Lamar and Ivory both the same deal we offered Chris Johson last year. 2 year deal with 1 guaranteed. Kinda sad that the RB market is such shit now.
I think they're going to be very limited in free agency. The priority needs be resigning of their own as possible.
well the bottom line is how much of a cap hit are the Jets gonna absorb in the resigning Fitzy. The Jets took a 3.2M cap hit this year for him Thinks its gonna be way more in 2016. Lam
If you tag Mo, then trade him for a first round draft pick plus, then sign Von Miller with the money you would have paid Wilkerson, this might be doable.
D'Brick contract needs to be redone. Kerley, and Milner too. Cut Cro and Cumberland. (thats a 10M savings) Lam
While I will hate to lose Mo, I think that would be awesome in some key ways. Von Miller is exactly the type of pass rusher we need. Adding another 1st round pick would help with adding that OT we desperately need to add. With two 1st round picks, we could conceivably add a LT and a top ILB prospect who excelled in coverage. That would make our D amazing! The problem is, I'm not sure how the team would react to not re-signing Mo and then bringing in Miller. They know it's a business, but still, they know that Mo was our best player and I think he's well liked in the locker room. That could cause some disruption in the team chemistry/harmony.
I think they almost HAVE to cut both Cro and Cumberland to gain the needed cap space to re-sign whichever of our FAs they want to keep. Probably Kerley too, especially since they don't seem to think he's a fit.
