So how does it shape up now?

If we'd have lost to the Chargers we would have had something like a 5 mill $ exemption to sign one FA but what happens now that we are in the final 4? I'm guessing no exemptions.. you can only sign a player if you lose one and for about the same amount of money.
    Is that right? Thanks :)

PS I don't really care though... we have a great team and I don't want to loose too many guys.

We can sign one when we lose one, and salaries must be comparable. That's about all you need to know at this point. We lost our exemption signing by winning yesterday. I don't think anyone's going to be complaining about that.

I bet Richard Seymour is :p

This puts Gholston in an interesting situation... if we want to spend money on someone (Merriman?) he's a goner...

I'm not a grammar Nazi, except for that. Lose vs. loose. That's the only one that annoys me.

Gholston isn't a FA though, we would have to cut him.

Whether we restructure is contract or not, I see us keeping Gholston for at least one more year.

I don't know if I want Seymour unless we can get him for cheap, he is 30 now and we already have an old D-Line.

Ellis, Pouha, Jenkins, and Douglas are all at least 30.

Would not complain if we cut Gholston to sign Seymour and then draft Ryan's guy in the first couple rounds. But let's focus on taking down the Colts... and then THE WORLD!!!

What I meant by that post was, cutting someone doesn't count as losing a FA.

With Rex as our head coach and our winning atmosphere, players will want to play for us, I hope we get the opportunity to sign at least one big name FA, I doubt it though. We have a lot of guys we need to lockup(Revis,Washington,Harris, etc..) and we need to re-sign Edwards.

Ellis looked like he'd been on the bike for 25 miles yesterday, and that was after he got his hand wrapped. I was screaming at the TV for to sack Otter-boy, but he just ran outta steam

The good news is that free agency is moved from 4 years NFL experience to 6, which means that Edwards and Washington are not UFAs bu RFAs.

Cuts don't count as free agens losses. What this means for next year is that the Jets have to concentrate on signing their own and fill holes through the draft. This is a talented team in any event. I don't see the need to bring in any free agents. Getting Jenkins and Washington back will be like signing free agents anyway. This magical run is being made without two of the Jets best players.

I think it's almost a lock that Seymour ends up in Kansas City.

What happens when we don't pick up Lito Sheppard's $10 mil bonus? Will we be allowed to re-sign him? I've become a big fan of keeping Lito. He's an above-average number 2 corner, which isn't all that easy to come by.

If we did cut him, we'd be allowed to sign a FA to a contract worth the value of Gholston's new contract. Anyone think we could find a good FA for 75 cents and a half eaten bagel?

JWWS disagrees. I have yet to find clarification on this issue.
