Adam Schefter on Twitter: "Former Colts’ HC Frank Reich is being named the new head coach of the Carolina Panthers. Reich now returns to the franchise he quarterbacked in 1995." / Twitter
Probably a good hire by the Panthers. It's worth pointing out though that HC's that get fired and then immediately rehired don't have a good track record in the NFL. Sometimes having a year to consider what got you fired is a good thing.
There are plenty of cases of black coaches being mistreated (Jim Caldwell for instance), but this is not one of them. Wilks went 6-6 this season and 3-13 in his one full season as a head coach (albeit with Josh Rosen at QB), whereas Reich has a winning record and two playoff births coaching a team with plenty of their own issues. Plus Reich is an offensive coach, which is important considering the Panthers don't have an established QB.
Reich with Darnold might just work. If only we tried that combo years ago. Might have saved a ton of blown draft capital between Darnold and Wilson.
