The Seahawks on Tuesday agreed to trade Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, a 2020 second-round pick and a swap of third-round picks in 2019, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via sources informed of the transaction.

This is why Seahawks weren’t interested in trading with Jets.

Hard to understand why they didn’t just keep Ford.

25 year old stud who can ball against the run or the pass. Expensive but he’s a huge upgrade in his absolute prime. Much better player than Ford and on the ascent.

Glad the Jets didn't try to make that move. Just draft Josh Allen.

Clark is a much more complete, and more dynamic player than Ford.
He's a much bigger guy as well, and for some stupid reason the Chiefs are converting to a 4-3, making Ford a bad fit.

Price was steep but they are getting an excellent player.
The real issue imo was choosing Spagnola instead of Rex Ryan as DC.

The reality is, the Chiefs gave up a first-round pick, a second round pick and swapped thirds, plus about $12 million more in guaranteed money for a player who isn’t any better than Ford, and slightly better than Houston, though younger and he's expected to replace both on his own.

Thank God. That price was WAY too high for Clark. Glad that wasn't us.

KC is going all in. Terrible trade for them, despite Clark being a good player. They better hope all the entire team doesn't need to be cut due to off field issues.

Completely disagree. Clark was way more productive than Ford as a pass rusher. Same amount of sacks Ford had 90 more snaps than Clark. Ford is a liability in the run game. The Chiefs while awful in pass defense they were even more putrid in run Defense. Considering teams were often in track meets and throwing the ball to stay in games with them, they still ranked 27 in rushing yards while only 17th in rushing attempts. They were 31st in yards per attempt at 5 yards per carry. Clark is miles better than Ford against the run. He's a big stout guy who can set the edge and has the quicks to make tackles behind the LOS. It's a massive upgrade and there's age to consider. Houston is a good player but he has missed a ton of games with injuries and turns 30. They guy was great in 2014. It's also the last year he played in 16 games.

The Pats completely exploded the Chiefs at the LOS in the playoffs last year. They had 48 attempts for 176 and 4 TD's.

This is about getting a player in his prime who isn't a pass rushing specialist but is consistently putting pressure on the QB in passing situations. They paid a high price but the Chiefs need a guy to plug in and play now and he's young enough to play for a long time. This is a win now team.

It's a team game. One player isn't responsible for stats vs.
Ford (the liability) had more tackles, more TFL, more than double the FF's . VsVthe pass , sames# of sackssand considerably more QB pressures.
Plus Ford and Houston combined we're $12 mill cheaper.
They traded for less production, at a higher cost, and gave away 2 premium draft picks that could have been used to upgrade the offensive talent they lost, and may lose to suspension.

they needed to try something new though, that defense last year couldn't stop a nose bleed

They need to focus on the D in this draft with both second round picks and Nandi and Ragland need to step up. Especially after losing Hunt and with Hill possibly facing a long suspension. They may lose a step on the offense.
Just don't see Clark and the added salary hit, being an improvement over the combination of players and draft picks given up.
The new DC and system may help too

Ford alone is 10 million cheaper over 5 years he's also almost 3 years older than Clark. Houston is irrelevant, he was cut. Clark is miles better than Ford who is a one trick pony. Ford had 90 more passing plays to get sacks than Clark did last year. Teams were constantly throwing against the Chiefs last year. The Chiefs were pilling up points and couldn't stop a nose bleed.

The Chiefs 1 is not a premium 1 it's the 29th pick. They still have 2 2nds this year.

Clark is an upgrade and the Chiefs made a decision after grading the draft that he was far better than a late 1 and 2. They might well be right.

How was the one trick pony better vs the run than Clark last year?
A first round pick is still a premium pick early or late. You can find a starter there , especially on a team with needs.

Clark is a much better player than Ford.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is not paying attention
