Last spot seems to come down to Simon.Pennel or Upshaw.I went w Simon only bc hes the best insurance policy at NT if Mclendon goes down. Thinking ng about it though Upshaw & Anderson could be fighting for the same spot just as well
I went with Pennel as a strong candidate to back and rotate with McC. Then went with Upshaw because of his experience, and place Foley on the PS. Anderson and Shep locks at DE. But was weighing things along the lines that you have. Simon keeps hanging around tho but I give the edge to more versatile guys in the end. It'll be a good camp for all the competitions tho
I feel like Pennel took away Simon's snaps and kept him on the practice squad. At times last year, they would have Pennel in the middle with McLendon and Williams as the other DEs. Doesn't look good for Simon.
It could be a tough call. Simon is a monstrosity and may be a tough guy to get out of the middle at NT if he's gotten better, and that could really free up Lee and Williamson to pursue. It'll be interesting to see how the D comes together. Knock on wood with Shep. He prolly needs time but a couple of guys emerging along the roster, maybe a guy like Donahue, sure would help.
yeah its going to be a tough one to see who makes the roster and who doesn't Xavier Cooper had some decent snaps at the end of last year too.
I disagree. I think Pennel may be the starting NT, and will certainly be the backup if not. Simon is a goner.
Cutting Pennel comes with $2.8M in dead money. Simon would have to seriously outperform him in camp or Pennel would have to get injured, imo, to make the roster.
He's from Rockaway Queens. Met him at the local Y a couple times going back a couple of years while he was at UC. Very nice kid. Told him to use his hands; they looked really strong, lol. He's gotten bigger since then. He was hanging out with another guy that was a DB I think somewhere but I never talked to him, he was impressive.
I went back & fourth on it.Pennel is the better player but hes also not really built to take on NT full time esp w his injury history. Additionally he’s more similar to the other DL that will be on the team.Hes more of a 3 or 5 technique who can penetrate.Meanwhile i see Simon as more of a pure space clogger inside.
