RIP Sad. Will's father used to work for me about 8-9 years ago. I had the opportunity to meet him and he was a genuinely good guy. Pretty fucked up, he gets rear ended and then the guy that hit him fucking shoots him. By Wilborn P. Nobles III, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune Follow on Twitter on April 10, 2016 at 12:55 AM, updated April 10, 2016 at 4:01 AM Will Smith, the former Saints defensive end, was killed and a woman was wounded in a late-night shooting in New Orleans on Saturday (April 9), authorities said. Orleans Parish Coroner Dr. Jeffrey Rouse confirmed Smith was the fatal victim in the incident. Police said Smith's wife was wounded and was taken to a hospital. The shooter is being questioned, police said. The double shooting took place around 11:29 p.m., near the intersection of Sophie Wright Place and Felicity Street in the Lower Garden District, NOPD said. Scene Of The Shooting Death Of Former Saint Will SmithVideo from the scene in the lower Garden District as New Orleans Police investigate the murder of former Saints defensive end Will Smith. Smith and the driver of the Hummer "exchanged words, at which time the driver of the Hummer produced a handgun and shot the male victim (Smith) multiple times and his 34-year-old wife twice in the right leg," said NOPD spokesman Juan Barnes. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife was transported to a hospital, authorities said. Police said the 30-year-old driver of the Hummer is in custody and being interviewed by investigators. The gun used in the shooting has been recovered.
Typical response. So let's just let every shooting go by the wayside and never actually do anything as the deaths mount by the thousand every year. "Thoughts and prayers" - the easiest way to do nothing and think you're helping.
i think i will wait to know the full story before i consider what if anything could have prevented this. thats just me though.
Before we can get into the issue of guns, we have to stop at the Black Lives Matter station first. But the real threat to Will wasn't the young black man with a gun who had no concern about shooting another black man, it was the fact that the shooter was afraid of the police and that was why he shot him. The police continue to be the biggest threat against black males because the fear of Police make black males shoot one another. This is fun.
yes, and that is sad. but until we hear about the suspect and the weapon how can we inteliigently consider what could have prevented this. i mean we could outlaw cars, because without the accident these 2 probably never cross paths.

The gun was illegal as it is in the vast majority of murders, about 97% of the time. Let's bump the penalty for illegal guns up to 10 years for the first offense, that should be a start.
So Smith and Pierre Thomas have dinner with this officer named in a lawsuit by Hayes and after the dinner Hayes rear ends Smith, they get into an argument and Hayes shoots and kills Smith. That's either a bizarre coincidence or this guy targeted Smith.
That's exactly what I was thinking, seems way too strange to be a coincidence. It is not out of the realm of possibility that this piece of shit intentionally slams into Smith to get him out of the car , argues with him and decides to shoot him because he's paling around with a cop.
until Ubiquitous and his ilk start screaming that penalty is racist if more black men are convicted under it than white men.
