Dave Meggett gets 30 years for rape and burglary WCSC TV in Charleston, South Carolina is reporting that former NFL player Dave Meggett was found guilty of 1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and 1st Degree Burglary on Wednesday. During sentencing, Meggett's sister asked the judge to have leniency for her brother. The judge sentenced Meggett to 30 years in prison, minus time he had already served. Meggett was charged with raping a college student in her home in January 2009.Meggett's attorney Beattie Butler told the jury that Meggett admits to having sex with the woman, but the two were friends and had a sexual agreement as repayment for debt. Meggett did not testify during the trial. Meggett played six years with the Giants, three years with the Patriots, and one year with the Jets, primarily as a punt and kickoff returner. I live in Charleston- this was not the first time he was accused of rape down here, the other one was about eight years ago so second offense (that I know of)

The thing was we didn't even need him by the time we got him. I think he was picked up in late November or December when we were already rolling big time. The first game I remember him in was at Buffalo in the division clinching game, week 16. He might have been here a little earlier but not much.

Leon Johnson got hurt and was out so that's why he picked him up. his first game was Buffalo, I think he had a nice run on a draw play that got us a 1st down.
Thanks. I was there, got to Buffalo mid week, was dating a girl there and was kind of detached frm the news. I remember seeing him in the game and thinking "we have Dave Meggett?"
