Scouts were impressed with Ernie Simms of Florida State and think he elevated his draft stock. We reported from the Senior Bowl that team's were concerned about the surly nature of Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler. Now comes word his interviews here have been mediocre at best. The problem is Cutler has come across as very vague when asked direct questions. Hofstra receiver Marques Colston ran well during his forty but turned scouts off even before he took the field at the RCA Dome. During interviews the 6'4" Colston gave coaches the impression he wanted nothing to do with a move to the h-back or tight end position. Scouts were surprised Joshua Tinch was not given an invite to the combine, especially after his terrific senior campaign. Tinch is another big-bodied receiver teams are projecting to h-back. Did receiver Greg Lee of Pittsburgh make a mistake declaring for the draft after a poor junior campaign? In a nutshell, yes....some teams do not even have Lee on their draft boards. How fundamentally bad did Omar Jacobs of Bowling Green look on Sunday? One major NFL general manager said in passing Jacobs is a "sandlot player". Chicago Bears general manager quickly popped his head into the RCA Dome Sunday morning to watch the running back time in the forty then quickly left...or we should say one running back as the object of his desire was Mississippi State's Jerious Norwood, who is projected to receiver by many squads. How impressive was Vernon Davis of Maryland the previous two days? Scouts are now referring to him as a "rare" prospect. The St. Louis Rams are incredibly impressed with the tight end crop in this years draft. They will definitely select one in April. They would love to add Vernon Davis to their roster but that is unlikely. Expect them to take a long look at Joe Klopfenstein in round two. Scouts feel that Tennessee defensive back Jason Allen is flying under the radar screen. Had an injury not ended his season in October scouts felt Allen was playing good enough to be a top 20-selection. The feeling in Indianapolis is Devin Hester 's ultimate pro-position will be wide receiver. Add John McCargo of North Carolina State to the list of players that have turned in impressive interviews. The word going around is that sources from the Syracuse football program have told NFL-people that James Wyche is not a trustworthy person. Scouts were a little more then ticked off that USC tight end Dominique Byrd did not work out at the combine considering he told teams during interviews he would complete the entire workout here.
cutler is an ok Qb i would mind him but you cant just think the jets are going to take cutler but you cant act like cutler is the next Joe namath cause he isnt
I read that too, but could care less because its in reference to his funky ass throwing style. Other people had good things to say about him though "Harvey Fialkov, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Bowling Green QB Omar Jacobs ran his 40-yard dash in 4.77 seconds at the NFL Combine. Jacobs, who was measured at a shade less than 6 feet 4, had an impressive 32 1/2-inch vertical jump and hit 10 out of 12 passes in throwing drills, including both long post patterns. "For such an unorthodox push delivery, he delivered it real well today, highly accurate," said NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock, one of the few media members allowed to watch the drills. "He had a little more juice on the ball and a better touch on the deep balls than I expected." I can post biased ass quotes too
His delivery is hilarious, but the ball gets to where it needs to go, he makes sound decisions, and he stands in there. Also, over the last two years, he made an effort to be more than just a look and run guy. I think his problems can be fixed, and I'll look forward to more news about him. I think his delivery can be fixed, and I think some hungry teams will overlook it, because he's smart and balanced. -X-
i was being stupid and i did it in quick reply, so i didnt put in any smiley face things to get it across. i didnt mean it seriously. sorry if you misunderstood
btw, jacobs had a ridiculous year, the year before, like 40 tds and single digit intos. Hes showed he got some great accuracy, screw the delivery. We were game for possibly trading for Rivers, who has a similar delivery, why not draft this kid
cause of the injury. jets arent gonna touch him for obvious reasons. Again this makes my point from a following post. that says wre building for brady quinn next year. no team in there right mind would ever do that. jacobs in the beggining of the year was thought to be a top 5 pick. look how that turned out
Joe Namath = more interceptions than touchdowns in his career 173 TDs to 220 INTs 65.5 career passer rating
i think it was 4 ints but whatever is was rediculous hence the reason he was drawing culpepper comparisons earlier this year
If people were saying he could be a top 5 pick, it means this kid is a great talent with a ton on upside. We could luck out by the fact that he got hurt and get a top 5 talent in the second or third round. I don't think the injury is a concern, he returned from it and was effective.
btw I'll be the first to admit I'm a bit too biased towards Omar, but come on, this guy could be a steal!
WOW!! PR Pitbull, I love that clip of Childs smacking that fag in the mouth-- I saw that live, and I have never been so happy in my life. Good call
