Just a question for our resident TGG.com cap gurus. Alot of discussions have centered on the negative cap ramifications for 2006 of Jet roster moves. I know that potential CBA issues and cap increases will affect the 2007 cap, but can you guys inform us of some of the positive cap ramifications for biting the bullet in 2006? Thanks for the info!!
It's tough to say what 2007 is going to look like at this point. They should be in a much better situation considering a lot of the vets will be gone and they'll have a young team with a bunch of guys they just drafted.
If there is not a new CBA, there will be no cap in 2007. These moves today just remove stuff from 2007. None of the moves will cause dead $ in 2007. As far as I can see, we have 32 players under contract for 2007 taking 68M of cap space. This does count Pennington and Martin (since I do not have his contract restructure details)
im not really intelligent when it comes to caps, or anything of the sort, so i have a question. is there anyway we can restructure some of our players so they get the majority of their paychecks in 2007, so we can pay it all off then and not have to worry about it in the future?
Without a new CBA, there isn't. Without getting detailed, a player is only allowed a 30% raise over 2006 in 2007 (since it's an uncapped year in 2007) by rule.
