Five Atlanta Players Fined - Uniform Violations

It's stupid that they fined them though.... Albeit it sends a bad message to show open support for someone jailed under the circumstances Vick was, but the NFL always allows people to write on their eye black, and to wear whatever they want under their jerseys, and show it...

It's hypocritical...

 

This was a major embarrassment to the NFL who already has an image problem... I can understand them coming down hard...

"Free Mike Vick?" Hey I'm all for free speech, but the dude plead guilty for fucks sake. What a bunch of genuises.

 

It would have made sense to give them a warning or something, about sending a bad message, and told them not to do it again

But a fine for these uniform 'modifications' that everybody does for different reasons, is hypocritical....

 

Fuck warnings... the guy admitted to torturing and killing defenseless animals... and these idiots go on national TV and say to free him... The team ownership didn't even support him by barring him from TC... yet the players pull this crap...

Dangelo Hall has always been a POS. But, I was surprised Crumpler contributed in this -- I used to have a better opinion of him.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all Crumpler did was draw the number '7' on his eye black.... Saying 'Free Mike Vick' is stupid, as he is not being held unjustly or anything.

But supporting him, as their friend, by printing his number somewhere on their uniform is not exactly classless.... Regardless of how heinous Vick's crime was, these guys were his friends and teammates.

 

Not for nothing, but supporting him over what, exactly? He isn't a victim and isn't being held unjustly, much as you said. Why not just visit him in the clink and bring sugar cookies in doggie shapes with green shiny sprinkles on top?

 

Supporting him over being sentenced to 23 months... Whether or not these guys (other than the one who wore the 'free Mike Vick' shirt) who wrote "7" or "MV7" on their eye black think he deserved what he got or not, he is still a friend and teammate who's going to be in prison for two years.. Paying tribute to those going through a hard time by modifying your uniform slightly on gameday seems to be a trend...

All I'm saying is that regardless of what was written and what message it sent, if some players can write on their eye black and show off their under-shirts during games, everyone should be able to do it, without being fined....

 

The NFL probably fined the guys with stuff on their eye-black unless they explicitly asked for permission. They're nazis about uniform stuff, hell I remember a few months ago reading a 2 paragraph blurb about how Brady got fined 10 grand for having the wrong chin straps buckled against San Diego. This is nothing new, accept maybe this time the offense actually warranted a fine.

I mean come on they wrote to free a guy who confessed but lied at the same time about torturing puppies.

 

Ditto. Plenty of warnings have been used in the past in the NFL in general & a lot of good they did, the image problem clearly continued. Start hitting these guys in the pocket & you'll see a change in behavior.

 

.... the free Mike Vick movement is not unfounded when you think of it. Beside him pleading guilty to the charges... that guy on the Rams ( Leonard Little I think it was ) killed a woman for Christ sakes!! Mike Vick brutally killed some dogs..

I still think this was overblown ...... Probation and a hefty hefty fine, some community service would have been enough.

 

I understand your point... however, you don't justify bad behavior by pointing out other bad behavior
