It's that time again for me to try my hand at being a draftnik. I don't know how to add pictures, so excuse the lack of illustration, but feedback is welcomed. Have at it.

    Round 1
Marquise Lee 6-0 195 WR USC: He gets the nod over Evans because of his route running and experience in the WCO. I believe that makes him the most NFL ready prospect at the position, which hopefully means immediate dividends on our investment.

    Round 2
Ha’sean Clinton-Dix 6-1 208 FS Alabama: We might need to start calling Bama "Safety U" as the keep churning them out. Not much to say other than we need a FS and he is my top rated FS. This maybe a bit of wishful thinking that he is available here but I'm banking on his recent suspension causes him to drop out of the first round.

    Round 3
Denarius Moore 6-0 190 WR Oakland Raiders: This mock assumes Holmes is gone. As much as I love Lee, as the pseudo-GM for this mock, I can't leave the fate of my WR corps in the hands of a rookie and an inconsistent and somewhat injury-proned, Hill. Thus, I trade one on my 2 3rd round picks for a young yet proven playmaker at the NFL level. Moore, the former 5th round pick, has been on the trading block in the past. My thought is once on the block always on the block with the caveat it's for the right price of course.

Morgan Moses 6-6 325 OT Virginia - If Bama is "Safety U", then Virgina is "Oline U". I believe Austin will be too rich for our blood in FA and will need to be replaced. Also, I believe Aboushi's future is at guard not tackle. Moses big, good at run blocking and has feet that may be good enough to play left tackle for certainly good enough to play right tackle, which is where most of his 30+ starts have been at.

    Round 4
Ross Cockrell 6-0 190 CB Duke – What he may lack in speed, he makes up for in technique. Cockrell will fit right in a Rex D as he is already fluent in the language of press man coverage. He knows how to use his hands and physicality at the LOS to disrupt the timing of routes. He is also very good at diagnosing plays quickly.

    Round 5
Isaiah Crowell 5-10 215 RB Alabama St – This is the part of the draft where you can take risks though I don’t think this is much of one. Not too long ago Crowell was one of the top recruits in the country and SEC freshman of the year. He was dismissed from Georgia because of a weapons charge, which was later dismissed. I have no idea about his character but on the field there aren’t too many negatives. IMO He has size, speed, agility, vision, quickness, runs pad level, can catch out of the backfield, can pass protect…etc; you name it, he has it. He’s dying breed; the almost extinct every down back.

    Round 6
TJ Jones 6-0 195 WR Notre Dame – When I watch Notre Dame play, he’s always making plays. Even when Alabama spanked them in the National Championship game he still got his against their secondary loaded with NFL prospects.

    Round 7
J.C. Copeland 6-0 275 FB LSU – I know many are in love with Tommy Bohanon, but not me. He’s great catching passes out of the backfield but he’s a terrible blocker both in the running and passing game. He’s whiffed on blocks this year as many times if not more than Ducasse . Copeland is a converted DT, literally a lineman playing FB. Don’t let his size fool you; big man run and catch the rock. What I like best is that he is a mean SOB, he’d continue blocking into the parking lot if he could. He is T2 to John Connor’s Terminator.

its tough to gauge denarius moore because the raiders have been awful. i just wouldn't give up a 3rd round pick for him

How the heck do you not have us drafting a TE ?

Id probably put that as our #1 need

And I dunno if id want Moore either, especially since hes in the final year of his rookie deal. So im sure he would want either a decent contract (thus us overpaying him) or to test UFA (in which case its stupid for us to give up an early 3rd)

I don't like the Moore trade. Other than that, good job! I love the Crowell pick.

Thanks for the comments. I actually wanted to draft a TE but I didn't think the 2 guys I liked, Eric Ebron and Austin Seferian-Jenkins, would last beyond the first round as I was not going to draft a TE over a WR in the first. There's always FA; Fred Davis anyone? I don't think it's wise to draft a player just to fill a need regardless of what you think of said player. That said; if Eric Ebron was to be available in round 2, I would take him ahead of Ha'Sean Clinton Dix and pick up a safety like Kurtis Drummond (6-1 200 Michigan State) later with one of our compensatory picks.

I would love getting HaHa in the second. Dont like the third for Moore, I think the kid is good just not worth a third. Lee is ideal as well. I want the Jets to either grab Lee, Evans or Watkins in the first.
