NDY- Andrew Luck QB WAS- Robert Griffin QB MIN- Matt Kalil LT CLE- Trent Richardson RB- They need any sort of play maker TB- Morris Claiborne CB STL- Justin Blackmon WR JAGS- Melvin Ingram DE- IMO I wanted to give them Floyd or Raliff to help Gabbert but I heard they really like Ingram plus he does fill a need MIA- Ryan Tannehill QB CAR- Michael Floyd WR- I know they need help on defense but Floyd has been lighting it up, plus it gives CAR a great young receiver for Newton to build with because Smith won’t last forever. There will be DTs available in the 2nd BUF- Riley Reiff LT- They just lost Bell and have a ton of money in Fitzpatrick KC- Dontari Poe NT- They get their NT to round out a great defense SEA- Quinton Couples DE- I think they’d be better suited taking Kuechly but they desperately need someone to get pressure on the QB and Couples is the best pure pass rusher in the draft Cards- Luke Kuechly MLB- When you play in the same division as Lynch, Gore, and Jackson you need to stop the run. Kuechly is a amazing run defender and is good value here. They should take a tackle here but at this point all are reaches Dal- Mark Barron SS- I feel like I’m going to get killer for this one but Barron is a great safety who helps the Cowboys poor secondary. A CB would be nice but Barron is better then the remaining CBs and also fills a need Eagles- Fletcher Cox DT- Provides a great inside pass rush to go along with Jenkins and Cole on the outside. They need an linebacker but I feel no value player is available here Jets- David Decastro OG- The jets want to ground and pound and the best way to do that is with this formula: Best center in football + Best guard prospect in years= dominance inside Bangles- Dre Kirkpatrick CB- There #1 need filled by the #1 CB left, Kirkpatrick will take Halls spot while he’s out then take Clements spot when Hall returns Chargers- Cody Glenn OG- With Deilman retiring and McNeill getting cut they need help on the o-line. Glenn gives them the flexibility to use him at RT or guard as needed plus he’s a great o-lineman Bears- Jonathan Martin LT- RT is set with Gabe but LT is still a problem. The bears finally got Cutler a WR maybe they can finally protect him too Titans- Whitney Mercilus DE- Mercilus plus Wimbley will make Luck’s life a living hell for years to come. I think CB would be better suited but Mercilus could be a beast and is to much to pass on Bangles- Kendall Wright WR- You can kill me all you want for this but Wright is a great receiver who can give Dalton another target and pull coverage away from Green, I think this is a perfect pick Browns- Stephen Hill WR- O-line would be better suited here but with 4 tackles gone and the top G gone I think they again go with the top play maker. I think the Browns will select Weeden in the second following a path similar to the Bangles last year taking WR then QB. Lions- Janoris Jenkins CB- Great cover corner that they need plus he’s a criminal so he should fit right in, lol, but in all seriousness he helps where they really need it Steelers- Don’t’a Hightower MLB- the cap killed Steelers are able to replace on of the many cap causalities with a MLB who fits their system perfectly Broncos- Michael Brockers DT- Amazing run stuffer who will help this up and coming defense also he should eat up some blockers for Dumervill and Miller #scary Trade: Jets trade their 2nd, 3rd, and Brendon Moore to Texans for #27 overall Why is happens: the Jets need to get a pass rusher and Upshaw is still there plus drafting Upshaw means that BB doesn’t get him, also by trading Moore who is no longer a need they free up 3 M to spend on a receiver (Cotch or Edwards) a tackle (Carrey, McNeil) or a safety (OJ Atogwe) The Texans main needs include O-line help (G & RT) plus WR. This trade gives them an extra day two pick as well as putting them in position to take a better valued WR with the Jets 2nd. Plus Moore gives them a skilled veteran zone blocker who is amazing in pass pro. Jets – Courtney Upshaw OLB NE- Nick Perry OLB- Good thing BB stockpiled draft picks because that defense needs help at almost every position. Perry is a versatile player who could play DE in a 4-3 or OLB in a 3-4 and he can provide a good rush while doing it. GB- Stephon Gilmore CB- With Collins career at risk the Pack could move Woodson to safety and plug Gilmore into his spot. Plus he upgrades the leagues statistically worst secondary Ravens- Peter Konz OC- Birk is a great player but old. Konz will fill in at the guard vacancy that Grubbs left and he will shift to center when Birk retires SF- Kevin Zeitler OG- A reach but a solid guard none the less he will fill the hole left by Snyder. I think like the Texans the 49ers are candidates to trade down. NE- Devon Still DT- Like Perry Sill gives the Pats a versatile player who can play DT in a 4-3 or DE in a 3-4 Giants- Mike Adams OT- I wanted to give them a RB or MLB but no value picks are available and tackle is a huge need. The o-line is getting old and McKenzie is gone. Rest of the Jets draft: Trade Jets 2012 6th and 2013 3rd for Cle 4th round pick 4th- Robert Turbin RB Utah State- This guy is an animal and would be a nice complement to Greene in our new power running attack. If it weren’t for injuries (ACL and foot injury) that caused him to miss 2 seasons he would be a late 2nd early 3rd pick. If he had gone to a bigger school I think he has the tools to be a late 1st rounder. I’m really a fan of this guy, could be special. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d5VdZ9PWUg 5th- Brandon Hardin FS- May be a bit early but I feel like some team will fall in love with his physical ability and take him early. He is a developmental safety prospect who if he could put it all together could be a pro bowler. For now he will take Cole’s spot as the gunner on special teams Comp 6th- Vontez Burfict MLB- Why not the guy was considered the top defensive player a few months ago. Although he may have character issues who cares he’s a 6th round pick at this point cut him if he acts up Comp 6th Bryan Anger P- Conley’s replacement 7th- George Bryan TE- Considered the best blocking TE in the draft but wasn’t invited to combine and at pro day only put up 13 reps of 225 so he drops, I think with some strength training he could be a replacement for Mulligan. Also he’s 6’5 so he could be a good red zone target 7th comp- Greg Zuerlein K- Small school prospect but he kicked 21 straight FGs this season and had range up to 60 yards, competition if nothing else 7th comp- D’ Anton Lynn CB- RB coach’s son. Jets showed loyalty for their own drafting Scotty McKnight last year so I see no reason why they won’t take Lynn this year. He’s a good hard hitting CB hopefully he can be a good special teamer
I really like this draft- but I think we give up too much for Upshaw here. You could probably move up without trading BM, though I do follow your logic that his salary could be used to pick up a FA. I'd rather stay in the second and see if Branch or another OLB prospect slides a bit. Maybe a first round prospect slides past #40... at that point it'd be a lot easier to move up. I'm a fan of everyone you drafted though, good job. Turbin would be a great fit in the ground and pound.
I do agree with you but according to the draft value chart it works out rather evenly. The 27th pick is worth 680 pts, the jets 2nd is worth 430 & 3rd is worth 205 which equals out to 635. That means that Brandon Moore is equal to a late 4th round pick, which would be roughly the pick the Jets could get if they Traded Moore straight up. While I agree the Jets could stay put and get a good 2nd round pass rusher (Branch, Curry ect) But I don't see them falling that far, and either way IMO Upshaw is to good to pass up here, plus we steal another player from BB (Landry was the 1st this season) ; )
