I posted this on the SB Nation GangGreenNation page, and decided to see what you guys thought of my mock draft/offseason.

    Notable Cuts:

    Mark Sanchez

    Santonio Holmes

    Antonio Cromartie

All three should be cut. They're all making top tier money and performing like bottom tier players. Mark Sanchez could be brought back at a minimum to compete but that's all.

    Resign:

    Austin Howard

    Jeff Cumberland

    Darren Walls

    Leger Douzable

    Nick Folk

These guys wouldn't cost too much and they're all solid players.

    Free Agent Signings:

Jeremy Maclin: I don't expect much more than maybe a 2 year deal, but he'd start at a position of need.

Sam Shields: Good veteran player at a position of need.

Stevie Brown: Ballhawk. Just what we need in the secondary. He played real well last year and got hurt in preseason.

Jason Worilds: Would come in and start next to Coples. I don't see the Steelers paying him after drafting Jarvis Jones.

Kenny Britt: Team friendly contract. He messes up, he's gone. He's a talented player, and we can't ever have too many receivers.

    Best Guard available

    Draft:

Round 1: Marqise Lee, WR, USC. Smart, good route runner, good hands. Really good fit for Marty's system, and NFL ready. I like him over Evans, and I don't think Watkins would be there.

Round 2: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington. This pick would be for the best TE available out of the 3 of Amaro, Ebron, and this guy. I don't see all 3 going in the first, so I'm hoping that one falls to us.

Round 3: Kelvin Benjamin, WR, FSU. IMO, this would more than complete our receivers group. I don't expect Maclin to sign a contract for more than 2 years, so I'm drafting another receiver. When Maclin leaves, we'll have Lee, Hill, and Benjamin to start. Hill is only 22 years old, so I do expect him to get better. I really like this kid though. Big, tall receiver, and a hands catcher.

Round 3: Tre Jackson, G, FSU. This is more of a best guard available pick. Don't know if Jackson would be the best available, so whoever is , we take them.

Round 4: Aaron Lynch, DE/OLB, USF. He would play OLB for us. He had a down year, but did officially declare. I like his size and potential. He's 6 foot 6, with ridiculously long arms. He could go earlier, but with his down year, I'm hoping he falls.

Round 5: Tevin McDonald, S, Eastern Michigan. Brother of Rams' T.J. McDonald, and son of Jets' DBs coach Tim McDonald. He's got off-the-field issues, but he's talented, and with his dad coaching him, I don't see him acting up.

Round 6: Colt Lyerla TE, Oregon. This dude is troubled, but again, he's got talent. These late rounders IMO are better used on guys like this. Talented players, who you know could play in this league. I feel like he can play the role of an H-Back for us. Sort of like how Charles Clay was used before this year, and I think that he can be a real good player if he stays out of trouble. Could swap this with the 7th rounder and pick BPA here.

Round 7: BPA, or Colt Lyerla here and pick BPA in the 6th.

I feel like this draft would keep this team going in the correct direction. Makes our biggest weakness of WR, into probably our strongest. We would have 6 WRs that can all play at any time, and all are young with upside. Leave your thoughts below and tell me what you would do different. I know that I didn't draft a QB but I would probably sign one in FA to come in and compete for the job, I just didn't feel like looking at the list on my phone. I did this pretty quickly, so it's not perfect.

I like it but I would use the first pick in the 3rd on David Yankey and the second pick in the 3rd on a QB for some competition. Our WR situation is horrible but it won't be fixed in a year, bringing in 3 should be enough especially with a healthy Kerley, beside I think we could load up with some of our later comp picks.

Big fan of grabbing Lyeria late, if ASJ falls to us and they both work out with have a nearly uncoverable core of TE's

I like this a lot. Being at FSU I would love the Benjamin pick

I think we could completely change our receiving core. This makes our receivers young, talented, and cheap.

Id pick the best guard available where I picked Tre. I just put his name there to have a name pretty much.

I really like the upside to Colt Lyerla..

I said elsewhere that I am happy getting a good receiver in the draft, a TE and a safety. Anything else is gravy so I am good with this.

No quarterback for insurance eh? This class is very deep at QB, very difficult decision to draft one if a good one on your board falls your way. I like Geno, I am just not convinced that he is the franchise QB.

I don't think that this class is deep at QB. Nobody really impresses me much and I'd rather rebuild the offense completely to no longer be able to say that the season would be different with more talent. After this offseason out offense is completely different with young talented players. If Geno doesn't work out draft a QB next year.

Kelvin Benjamin in the third? I'm not sure he's making it out of the top 20, let alone the third. I see him as a solid late first value.

The Kenny Britt signing looks great on paper, but I'm willing to bet some team still hands him more than his risk level is worth.

I'm bored to death of every mock including Colt Lyerla. If teams check him out to be anywhere near able to be trusted he will be long gone by then. If not he may go undrafted. This is the honey badge all over again and he went more where I expected, early to mid 3rd.

I like the Worilds signing a lot, but don't be surprised to see Pitt retain him. The Odd man out in Pittsburgh is likely to be the ageing and expensive Woodly once Jones nears the end of his rookie contract.

This class could be very deep, or just very top heavy depending on who comes out.

NFL, don't get me wrong I believe you had a very very solid draft. I like every single pick.I have my doubts about every single QB in this draft as well. However, I have a feeling one of them is going to be a stud. I am extremely curious to where Idzik and the scouting team have the QB's and if we take one to "breed competition" for the QB position. If we do not draft one, you have just created the coronation of Geno as your QB.

Yes, and if people who evaluate him see it's still an issue they will not waste a pick on him, if they think it's not an issue he will get selected high. The talent is there if he has over come his problems and focuses on football. They do not care what your previous drug use was, only that your dealing with it and focused on football.

Still, every damn mock on this site has him in the 5th or 6h. It's a boring projected pick over and over again.

Probably my favorite mock I've seen so far. A few points:

    1) Aaron Lynch probably isn't a fit with our D unless we wanted to switch to a 4-3. Plus, he's a headcase. If can get his shit together, he's a Jared Allen clone (seriously top 5 pick kind of talent). I would understand if they pulled the trigger on him in the 4th, but I'm wary.

    2) If we do end up with Watkins or Evans, look at TJ Jones out of Notre Dame. He's basically a Marquis Lee lite. Not a big, physical receiver or off the screen athletic, but runs great routes and has great hands. Would fit well with MM's offense.

    3) If we skip out on Murray and McCarron in the 3rd (hell I'd take Murray in the second), I'm going to flip a shit.

Neither Murray nor McCarron impressed me at all. I believe in fixing everything around the QB, then looking for your QB of the future. Like that you won't have to make the excuse of no talent.

Not trying to challenge you but how much CFB do you watch? I've seen a number of games by both players, and outside of Bridgewater they look most like the real deal of any college QBs out there.

I'm not suggesting abandoning the Geno Smith experiment, but what has he proven? And no team without a quality franchise quarterback is going to the Superbowl without one. But we don't to miss out on one that could light it up (like we did with Cousins and Wilson) that have proven they could get it done at the college level. The lack of skill position players is the most glaring issue, but it's virtually impossible to have confidence that the QB situation is figured out.

Decent picks. Lots of value on the scale. A few picks are wishful thinking in terms of the guy being there but that's how you get things rolling in envisioning the future.

I think the Jets are likely to take a safety in the first 4 picks, by the end of the 3rd round. That's the vagabond position on the team and it shows. I think there's a good chance they take another developmental QB somewhere. I like your overloading on WR's between free agency and the draft. That's a good guess based on Idzik's style. I think the Jets might do that with TE's also.

No QB in rounds 1 or 2 is a fail.

You fix the foundation first in this a Quarterbacks driven league.

Use all your other picks and free agency for the fixins but we have to get a franchise QB or we'll forever be spinning our wheels.

Excellent job. With regards to FA I like the cuts, but wouldn't keep Sanchez. I think it's in everyone's best interests that he move on. I don't know Stevie Brown so accept your word on him. No way on Kenny Britt, however. I don't care how talented he is, he's a head case and a cancer and the Jets don't need anyone like that. I love the Maclin, Shields, Worrilds and best OG (Asamoah) signings.

In the draft, I like addressing WR and TE 2x each as well as adding an OG. Unless they thoroughly vet Lyerla and are convinced his troubles are behind him, I wouldn't waste even a low round pick on him. They just don't need those kinds of headaches/distractions. I don't know which rounds players are likely to fall in, so can't judge that. The Jets are likely to have an additional 4th, 5th and 2 more 7ths due to comp picks.

According to NFL's FA signings yes, but the Jets could sign a vet like Shaun Hill or Josh McCown to compete with Geno and possibly start in 2014. They could keep Simms as the #3 or draft a rookie.

Murray and McCarron might not fall that far with as many teams needing QBs as there are. I'd take McCarron over Murray. I've seen GA play a LOT, and while Murray has compiled a lot of stats, he's never impressed me. His arm isn't that strong, and he's made a lot of dumb throws that wound up as interceptions. He's also been surrounded by a ton of talent and had a pretty excellent OL to play behind. McCarron has had the same talent and OL, but has looked much better, is a winner, and was 2nd in the Heisman voting. If he's there in the 3rd, I'd grab him, but he'll probably go in the 2nd round, maybe even late 1st, after all both Andy Dalton and Christian Ponder did, and I think McCarron's as good or better than either.
