thats it....im watching the game right now and Jerry just pulled Dickey after 5 innings and 72 pitches, Dickey is PISSED about getting pulled and i dont blame him, the Mets NEED a win and Dickeys pitching a gem and what does shithead do??? we all know the script..Valdes or Nieve or Olly or whoever the fuck will give up 3 runs the mets will wont score and thats it game over. Im sick and tired of watching this team...fire HOJO and Jerry and get Backman or Bobby V in there. Jerry has to be one of the worst managers in baseball.
Buck showalter.backman needs to work his way up from the cyclones.eventually to bench hitting or base coach learning from a nonense guy like showalter.
I hate Bobby V. with the burning hatred of a million suns. Always have... he's an absolute and complete cunt and a total douche bag too... but at this point I think I'd take him back.
Did you miss the part where Dickey landed badly in Kershaw's hole, and moved around gingerly, and then looked as if he were hiding an injury while fielding a ground ball? For the record, Dickey was pitching a gem, and Pedro Feliciano gave up 1 run. You're obviously pretty upset but you're just making shit up at this point.
what was i making up? if anything i was right on, some bullpen tool gave up a run and the mets didnt score = ballgame over. and no, ive been clamoring for jerry to be fired ever since the opening day roster consisted of Mike Jacobs and Gary Matthews Jr and not Ike Davis and Angel Pagan
Jerry will not be fired. As much as we all want him and Omar and the Wilpons gone, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
I'm not certain those were Manuel's decisions. The Mets front office may have told Manuel that Matthews was to get some starts in April so that maybe he could do well and they could trade him to the Reds. Davis not being with the Mets at the start of the season may have been Minaya's call. The ownership is the biggest problem with the team, in my opinion.
Excuse me for not letting a cold streak fool me into believing that the Mets can't make the playoffs. Excuse me for agreeing that Jerry should have taken Dickey out of the game to avoid injury, especially when Dickey is pitching to the tune of a sub 3 ERA.. "Bullpen tool"? Are you serious? And Pedro Feliciano is the best reliever on this team. You also stated it was 'Valdes Olly or nieve'... Yes, it's Jerry's fault that no one scored a run, right? How dense are you? Angel Pagan was on the opening day roster, just not starting. They took a flier on Mike Jacobs, who was considered a premier slugger not 2 years ago, so I give them a pass as an organization on that. I knew GMJ was bad but I tried to give him a chance anyway, hoping he could at least produce til Beltran's return. If they fall completely out of the race, Jerry will go. If they miss the playoffs this year, Minaya will be gone. The Wilpons have been setting Minaya up since last year as the scape goat. Holy crap, a post that makes sense.
This is a funny issue. On the one hand, Jerry Manuel is one of the most obviously awful, incompetent managers in baseball. He always plays for one run, no matter the scenario, and he has no feel for matchups. But on the other hand, he's simply the manager, and it's his job to do what he can with the talent made available to him. People are kidding themselves if they think that this is all Jerry. This is the most incompetent organizational management structure in baseball from the dimwitted trust fund son's involvement in personnel evaluation and decision making to the focus on solving last year's problems without considering future issues. This is an organization in the post Moneyball era that fielded a roster featuring on base voids Gary Matthews, Rod Barajas, Jeff Francoeur, Mike Jacobs, and Alex Cora. I don't know if they've ever heard of the term OPS. As much as you can blame Jerry for the poor decision making, he wasn't the guy who built this team. That was Omar Wilpon. -X-
The owners just recollateralized a loan that they had backed with Madoff assets. I think they had to borrow from JP Morgan to do it, although I'm not 100 percent sure. They're in the midst of what might become a class action lawsuit with former employees and they have the most decreased attendance rate in Major League Baseball this season. According to Adam Rubin, they have 120m locked up in 7 players for 2011, and their net worth isn't getting much higher. It may just be a matter of time. -X-
