So, as a Yankee fan I know I am very dissapointed about today's loss. I am not overly angry yet but I am sure that will come in a few days. I was shocked as well as the Yankees by a very good Detroit Tigers team. I have mentioned in a few threads about possible moves this offseason and players we need to dump or keep so I won't go into that. I also saw in a thread that someone said "why are Yankees fans dissapointed, you won 96 games and won the division". Although we did do those feats and they were admirable that is not enough. I personally attended 13 games this year and I grew more attatched to this team this year than any other in my entire life. I have always been a big Yankee fan although I do not have vivid memories of the older chapionships (I'm 17). I just needed to get this off my chest because of how sick I am over this. I can't believe we have to wait another year to see this team in the postseason again. So, Mets fans, go ahead and bash me and say that your team won and ours lost, I really don't care at this point. Good luck to you guys the rest of the way but I will be rooting against the Mets just because I can't stand to listen to baseball anymore. When I can stand to watch a baseball game again I will be rooting for the A's because they were my pick in the AL other than the Yanks. See you guys next spring training.
final yankees thought... note to self: the yankees are overrated, they talk a lot of shit but havent put it into results over the last 5 years....the only reason that matters is because of the amount of shit they talk... aka dammit maybe the yankees cant buy a championship later!
I grew up a hard core Met fan in the early/mid 60's. Horrible team but going to the games was a gas. No Mets fan ever expected our team to win a WS. It was just Baseball in the summer and it was great. I hated the Yankees as a Kid but that ended in 77 when I lived in an apartment that was a 1 block walk from Fenway park. It was there that I attended my first AL game. Being a NYer and hating Boston I went to every Yankee game at fenway, sat in the Bleachers with a Yankee cap and rooted like crazy for them. The funny thing was, Al Jackson a former Met pitcher was the pitching coach for the Red Sox. I used to sit in the center field bleachers right behind the Red Sox bullpen, root for the Yankees and talk all game to Al Jackson about the Mets. The point of this ramble is my heart and soul is with the Mets but I do have a very soft spot for the Yankees. I have been to numerous games at the stadium including several WS and playoff games. Football is a game of passion, baseball is a game of summer and life long memories. The Yankees will be back and if your lucky they might win 2,3, 4 or 5 more WS in your lifetime? I keep hearing the hate for this Yankee team from hard core Yankee fans. It's not fair but that's baseball, get used to it. If you love the game you have to love your team no matter how ugly it gets. Can anyone tell me what time and channel the Red Sox game is on?
are you kidding me? yankees fans talk more shit than anyone i know! you may be more biased than rogerblaze. its a close call. EDIT: AND YOU'RE USING MY SIG! CHANGE IT
Hey guys, seriously, old school Yankees fans did it. "96ers" do it. Today's true Yankees fans don't. I understand the hatred of the smack-talkers. I would too. As a matter of fact, I can't stand the Mets fans that consistently need to rip on the Yankees sucking. Credit where it's due. We've made the playoffs every year for over a decade now. Your team is on the verge of a magical season. Our time is done for now. Yours is still going. Bask in your glory. Don't worry about us.
