I didn't want to make a new thread just for a first round mock draft, so I'll post a Jets mock too. Here's the first round, would appreciate comments on it very much. 1. St. Louis - Sam Bradford 2. Detroit - Ndamukong Suh 3. Tampa Bay - Gerald McCoy 4. Washington - Russel Okung 5. Kansas City - Bryan Bulaga 6. Seattle - Eric Berry 7. Cleveland - Joe Haden 8. Oakland - Bruce Campbell 9. Buffalo - Trent Williams 10. Jacksonville - Jimmy Clausen 11. Denver (from Chicago) - Dez Bryant 12. Miami - Dan Williams 13. San Francisco - Anthony Davis 14. Seattle (from Denver) - Derrick Morgan 15. New York Giants - Rolando McClain 16. Tennessee - Kyle Wilson 17. San Francisco (from Carolina) - CJ Spiller 18. Pittsburgh - Mike Iupati 19. Atlanta - Sean Weatherspoon 20. Houston - Earl Thomas 21. Cincinnati - Sergio Kindle 22. New England - Jermaine Gresham 23. Green Bay - Jason Pierre-Paul 24. Philadelphia - Taylor Mays 25. Baltimore - Maurkice Pouncey 26. Arizona - Brandon Graham 27. Dallas - Nate Allen 28. San Diego - Ryan Matthews 29. New York Jets - Jared Odrick 30. Minnesota - Devin McCourty 31. Indianapolis - Vladimir Ducasse 32. New Orleans - Jerry Hughes New York Jets Rd1 Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State- Perfect for 3-4 DE, most likely starter from day one. Rd2 John Jerry, OG, Ole Miss- Good depth, can play outside or inside. Could even take Fanecas spot this year, if he feels like letting up as many sacks as he did last year. Rd4 Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama- Starter from day1 at nickel. Athletic with good quickness and tackling. Rd6 O'Brien Schofield, OLB, Wisconsin- Now here is a project at OLB. 6'2 240 pass rush specialist. Coming off of a torn ACL, he would most likely be put on IR next season. But in the 6th, you are getting a guy with 2nd to 3rd round value. Rd7 Travis Ivey, NT, Maryland- Big guy, 6'3 340, depth for the DL.
I'm going to be praying for Mays to Philadelphia in the great LB conversion experiment just so someone solid drops to us.
I'd be thrilled with Odrick but we need a Safety to be a capable starter in this draft. Our S rotation right now is filled with ace STers and a injury risk as our starter. I'd sacrifice Jerry for Cook or Burnett if they are still available and get our oline depth in rd 4
I would rather get a future starter at OL than S in this years draft. I think we have enough in house guys at S to be able to find a gem. Pool, Smith, Ihedigbo, even Lowery.. I think one of them can pan out into a good starter.
Say whatt? Behind Jenks, Ellis, Devito and Pouha, we have nothing. With as many 4-3 fronts as we run, we should have at least 5 or 6 good DL. Not to mention Ellis, Pouha and Jenkins are all over 30.
I'm referring to what I've read that we only dress 5 DL normally. Jenks + Ellis + Devito + Pouha + Odrick = 5.
You have to plan for the future as well. 3 of those guys may only have 1 or 2 good seasons left in them.
If Thomas makes it to 20, Tanny's moving up. I really believe that. I'd take Odrick, though I'm not as high on him as others. Great first two picks.
I'm willing to bet that this is going to be Jenkin's last season. Even if he is on the roster for 2011, he's going to the IR early. Pouha and Ellis have about 2 years.
This is true. I love seeing Gresham going to the Pats in mock drafts. He seems like the least threatening pick they could realistically make.
