Oficially sick of thinking about the draft. Feel like my head is gonna explode. So, to once and for all put this behind me and wait for the real show tomorrow, here are my final wishes. What do you think? Wish 1: DON'T DRAFT LEINART -A rotator cuff injury and elbow surgery, all before the ripe old age of 22. He also grades out as having very average arm strength? Sounds a bit like someone else we know that wears #10? In addition, he's fashion, tabloid type of guy. No thanks. Wish 2: DON'T TRADE UP -Either from 4 to 2 or from 29 up to 13, 18, etc. We have 7 picks in the first 4 rounds of a very deep draft. We are not one or two players away. Please don't fall in love with one guy and sacrifice more bodies in the process. Wish 3: GET SOME OFFENSE -I think I read we haven't drafted offense in the first 2 rounds for the last like four or five drafts (Nugent doesn't count, he's special teams). We need some talent on that side of the ball. Let's get an RB at 29 and/or a second tier QB in round 2/3 and/or D-Brick at 4.
The media keeps playing it like if the Jets pass on Leinart, the Jet fans on site will storm the stage in outrage. I hear more guys who have your (and my) view of Leinart that those that love the guy.
I want Vince Young or Matt Leinart this maybe wrong but i want a superstar hype type of player. Both will be succesful in the NFL watch and see. This pick can bring in someone NFL ready Mario Williams,D-Brick,AJ Hawk.
I agree with your Wish 1. No Leinart, No QB at 4 please, but especially Leinart. If they have a shot at Reggie Bush for their 2, 1st rounders I think they have to take it, otherwise, I agree again. Stand strong, and bring in some talent, they dont have to be flashy, but they have to be able to play.
Jet Fighter, good post I agree with you wholeheartedly except I want no part of Leinart or Brick. i dont want brick only because if i was GM id address OL with the 29th and 35th pick or with at least one of those two picks and 1 or 2 more in rds 3-5. theres alot of scenarios id be pleased with as long as we follow Jet Fighters basic outlines. except no brick for me
Fair enough. I could live with no D-Brick at 4 and instead o-line at 29 and 35. But if Mario is gone at 4, I'd rather trade down to 7 (if possible) and pick up best of remaining: Hawk, Davis or, if he falls to us and since we got more picks for dropping to 7, then I'd take D-Brick there.
Here are my 3 wishes: 1. No RB's 2. No QB's on the 1st day. 3. 1st day 2 OL, 1-2 OLB's, NT and if room a CB.
that seems good to me, heres wehere we split though id probably just take the BPA,heres my idea of BPA at 4 at 4 id select Mario Williams, Vernon Davis, or AJ Hawk. otherwise trade down, i know the trade down seems best at 4 so we could possibly nab yet another starter. but having any of those three seems too tempting, cuz if we trade down IMO we automatically lose the option of picking Vernon Davis or Hawk as i think they would be the next players off the board. but then again a trade down could soldify us so many other spots, hell we could trade down and take a whole lot of quality prospects. but like i said Mario,Davis,Hawk are 3 players i would love to see in green and white. im open to alot of things and i guess i seem on the fence lol but like i said the only other options that would ultimately irritate me are the ones we first covered.
Anyone but Culter at #4. Don't trade up. I would be happy with D'brick, Young, Leinart, Hawk, or Mario at 4. Drafting one of those players will only help our team. The FO needs to draft who they think will improve our team the most. We can wait for filling needs with our other draft picks.
I want Leinart or Mario at 4, DeAngelo Williams at 29, and best available OLB or OT (depending on who we take earlier) at 35.
I want us to trade down and get Cutler in the 7-12 range and the get some OL help and maybe a DL or LB the rest of day one!!! But I wouldn't be upset with Williams or Hawk at 4 and then the rest of the day OL!
I think we should avoid Leinart like the plague. I think he could take a serious pitfall. I would be pissed if we took Leinart and D'Brick was still on the board.
The NY media is pulling for Leinart because they know he'll get them headlines. With the way Tannenbaum and Mangini have been silent on internal affairs, journalists are practically begging for something to write about.
My wish is for the Radio City Leap... USC quarterback Matt Leinart has made no secret of the fact that he'd be happy going to the Jets at No. 4 and playing on a big stage. He even hinted yesterday that he might make some type of "Lambeau Leap" into the gallery at draft site Radio City Music Hall if he were selected by the Jets. -- Newark Star-Ledger
I'm ok with the no trading up part unless the oppurtunity to draft Bush was there. I'd give up #4 and #29 to get this guy. He is going to be the next great USC RB and it's about dam tme we got one. If we stand pat at #4 my wish would be Hawk, Williams or Davis #29 would be Mangold #35 would be Marcus McNiel
My draft wishes: 1. DON'T DRAFT D'BRICK This is really the only pick that will get me pissed off beyond belief. You don't replace a position that doesn't need replacing. 2. DRAFT A RB IN ROUND 1 Curtis isn't getting any younger and houston and blaylock are no more than backups. It's time for a replacement, whether it be bush falling, DeAngelo, or Maroney.
