...I'm having trouble trying to figure out which RB's should be my week in, week out, sure start. Actually, after this week, I'm 100% certain that Matt Forte will be my #1 RB for the season. The others I'm having a hard time with. Brandon Jacobs Chris Johnson Ryan Grant In the last few weeks Matt Forte has been stellar. So he will be my sure lock start every week from here on out (unless there's a bye week), but the other RB's have their own issues. Brandon Jacobs - Loses touches to D. Ward, but gets goal line carries. Chris Johnson - Gets a limited # of snaps and can break a big one at any time, however, Lendale White "Castle" steals goal line snaps. Ryan Grant - Is obviously still hurting from that hamstring but Jackson is starting to steal carries away from him. Here's a list of the best 3 RB's on the waiver wire: Michael Pittman RB, DEN <-nuff' said Steve Slaton RB, HOU Tim Hightower RB, ARI I don't see anybody really better but maybe someone can shed light on a player that's been under my radar.
Slaton would be a good pick up, but he won't outperform the others, at least not yet probably. Pittman is a very sneaky play this week. 4 carries, 10 yards, 2 TDs is very possible from him.
Don't drop any of your current RBs for him but, if you have room, pick up Slaton. As for who you should be starting each week, I would go with Jacobs and Matt Forte and Chris Johnson would be a close 3rd. I'd wait for Ryan Grant to show me something before starting him.
Yeah, I noticed that Kubiak announced that he will be their feature back in Houston. He had a great game last game against a good defense in the Titans. Thing is, Houston (at least last year) couldn't commit to 1 RB. It seemed like every week, they would announce who their starter was, and that starter would go out and have a terrible game, and the backup ends up having a great game, then he's the one taking the most reps. I'm not too fond of that. I can't really drop anybody else. Unless maybe I drop one of my receivers like Eddie Royal who only gave me 1 point last week, but I heard Marshall was found guilty of some charge on the news yesterday (not too sure). Another RB worth mentioning that's still on the waiver wire is Buckhalter.
I think I'm stuck this week. I just realized Reggie Wayne is on a Bye and Eddie Royal is playing the Chiefs. What also sucks is, Matt Forte is going against the Eagles and their #1 ranked rush defense only allowing 2.9ypc. Chris Johnson is playing against the Vikings and their fierce Rush D, Brandon Jacobs is on a Bye Week, and Ryan Grant skipped practice yesterday. So, I would love to pick up Slaton, only, I have no one to drop. Unless I drop Grant who's been struggling thus far this year. Goddamnit.
Grant's a tough one this year...hasn't done much. Don't drop him if you think he'll outperform Slaton over the long haul. You wouldn't want to lose a quality back just for a bye-week replacement. Drop the guy that has the least chance of being picked up...and don't forget about the rookie RB "wall". They tend to disappear just around playoff time because they're used to 11 or 12 games a year.
Okay. Well, that pretty much settles it. Which 2 should I start this week? Matt Forte vs. Eagles (and their #1 ranked rushing D, but at least they're at home)? Ryan Grant @ Tampa Bay? Or Chris Johnson vs.Vikings (4th ranked rushing D, but again, they're home)?
Forte is a must start. He catches passes too he is the poor man's Brian Westbrook. Orton seems to only throw to 2 receivers. Lloyd and Forte. As your 2nd RB, id go with Grant if he is probable. If not, then i guess you have no choice but to go with Johnson and hope that he doesn't get tackled at the 1 yard line.
I think I'm gonna go with you on this one. Forte plays a huge role for that offense. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't put up huge numbers bc that Eagles D is just scary. So, I'll go with him for sure. Now the toss up is with Grant and Johnson. I'm leaning towards Grant over Johnson primarily because I'm already playing against a stout D with Forte. Playing against some steep odds with one player is all I can handle for 1 week. Grant (if probable) sounds like more of a decent start and won't be as much of a gamble.
I haven't heard it was season-threatening like you say, but Mendenhall would be a so-so bye week replacement if you can move some things around in your roster. They are facing a tough #3 ranked Baltimore Ravens Rushing D.
Mendenhall will do nothing this week. If Parker is out for the season, he's a good pickup. And I will bitch and moan because I just cut him in order to pick up a replacement bye week defense.
