Saw in the paper today that Mangini is again making a game time decision on the kickers...maybe he's just trying to spare Nugent, but there is absolutely no way that he should be starting in this game ahead of Feely right now. 1. Feely is hot and chances are the kicking game is going to decide it in the end. 2. Nugent is ice cold and he will have the added pressure of coming in and replacing a guy who's been doing the job. Nugent has not shown himself to do well under pressure and he's been set up to fail. 3. Tennessee is where Nugent enjoyed his first kicking flubs on opening day, 2006. I'm sure the memory is not too far away for him since he doesn't seem to possess Tiger Woods' steely resolve. Until Feely screws it up, Nugent rides the pine. Any other decision is Mangini showing either his lack of feel or his coaching arrogance/ignorance.
There's no way Nuge sees the field tomorrow...I think Nugent is just an insurance policy at this point. You have to stick with the hot (in this case) leg.
Nothing against Nuge but I dont see anyway he starts tomorrow. Feely has been kicking well and Mangini and the coaching staff isnt going to mess with it.
Just a short while ago everyone hated Feely. I think any athlete who paid attention to what people say about them would go insane, mebbe thats the problem with people like TO and Rodman and stuff.
You never mess with a kicker on a roll. If Nugent comes back and stinks, then what do you do? Go back to Feely who has probably lost his mojo due to the benching? Keep going with what's working. We've won 4 in a row and there's no need to make any changes this week before a big game. Why even introduce the slighest of distractions to this team right now?
Keep Feely...I never really thought Nuget was a big time kicker. Thanks for the wasted draft pick Hermy.
