AKA... Mike and the Mad Dog Listened to their opener this afternoon, down playing the signing of Jones. Saying Jones is an "OK" back, "Jets got a little better" blah blah blah... But when Mad Dog found out the Patsies signed Welker, he was so freakin amazed! "WOW!!! The Pats got him too? He's a VERY GOOD PLAYER that little guy..." So sick of these 2 chumps goin nuts over every freakin move the Pats make...so goddamn sick if it...
Invented by Don Imus literally 5 yrs ago if not older. It's not new or original.... as is the original poster's take. I'm sick of people whining that we don't get the right respect. WHO CARES? Jones is not a top 5 back.. Sorry.. but it still was a great move. They even said that if you actually listened.
Not only did they down play Jones, but they made it sound like giving up the 37th pick in the 2nd round was alot. Even though they Jets still have a later pick in the same round. "Thats a lot of good college players their giving up."
The love of Welker is amazing, I heard benigno call him a "great" return man and Russo was going nuts over the trade. The guy is a 3rd WR, he has ONE TD in 3 years, he averaged 22 yds a KR and 9 yds a PR last year. Tom Brady can win w/ any WRs, why give up a 2nd and 7th for Welker when you can get WRs anywhere? and by the way, Branch got $13 mil in guaranteed money while Welker is getting $10.
So stop listening. If enough NYJ fans who bitch & moan about them also do that there ratings will drop & the station will drop them
Actually it was invented by Scott Farrell who was at war with those guys when they were on the same network about 10 years ago
No. Imus invented it. If it was 10 yrs ago, fine, I don't remember, but I remember Farrell grabbing onto it from Imus.
F- Those bastards! Francessa is a fat pompass assface butt-nugget! I got so fed up with them, I installed Sirius in my office, and listen to the NFL network and ESPN radio all day long.....with some Stern at times.
Exactly. The thing that makes the trade a good trade, and I've decided after some reflection that it's probably a good trade, is that it adds depth to the team. The Jets turned the 37 into two players, at least one of whom will make a major contribution to the team next year. The other player will be at worst a good developmental prospect. The other thing the deal does is to allow the Jets to bundle two picks and move up without sacrificing any of the depth they had prior to the Jones deal. If they see somebody falling into the late teens, 16 to 19 or therabouts, and they really want the guy they can bundle the 25 and the 59 or 63 and moveup easily. And they'll still have a second round pick to exercise after that deal. Tannenbaum is very quietly establishing a reputation as a guy that creates fluidity and liquidity for the Jets. His moves have promoted depth and have also tended to acquire upside players and quality extra picks in the draft.
What will it cost the Jets to get into the 14th spot? I have a feeling the reason they weren't all that active with the OLB in FA is because they are targeting Jarvis Moss, who has been taken by Pitt at 15 on pretty much every mock I have seen.
The 14 is out of reach unless the Jets want to make a major move up. It'd cost them the 25, and either 59 or 63 plus a 4th or a couple of later picks. I think the Jets could move up if they did not sacrifice a lot of depth to do it, but only for the perfect player for the system. I really think they are more likely just to stand pat and take the best available player at each choice.
Let's look at this trade in perspective.... The Jets, in the 2006 draft, figured their man would slide so they dropped down and acquired Washington's pick. With that pick, they acquired Chicago's #63 and Thomas Jones. This means for sliding down in the 2006 draft and getting the man we wanted ANYWAY, we acquired #63 AND Thomas Jones.
