A quick explanation: In real life the Raiders may pass on McFadden for Ellis or Long but with me as the GM, I think McFadden is the best available player as well as the player that will help my team the most. To me it is a no brainer, purge LaMont Jordan and keep Fargas as a solid backup but rebuild and reload that offense because Russell will need the help. For the Ravens it came down to Kenny Phillips and Vernon Gholston. I couldn't decide what I thought this defense was going to look like going forward so I thought Gholston might offer some versatility. I liked the idea of loading up the secondary with two allstar safeties but couldn't pull the trigger. Ideally I wanted a CB, but I thought it was too high for any of the available ones and that I could still get good value in the 2nd. Unfortunately two great CBs went off the board almost immediately. Arizona is a team without a ton of needs besides health and experience in my opinion which I thought would make them an easy team to draft for. I was wrong because towards the middle of the round rankings get murky and it is tough to judge who is the best pick. I thought Malcolm Kelly was probably the best value but didn't like the idea of loading up at WR again. It came down to Harvey and Stewart with Harvey getting the nod for the same reasons as Gholston got it for the Ravens. Harvey was a guy I considered at #8 and I figured there would be ample opportunities to stack up at Running Back later on.
Round 2 complete.................Comments???... fire away. Saint-Dic.....nice player but waaaaay too early. Mid Day 2 pick. Saint-Dic is a great pass rusher, and probably will only become a situational player in the NFL, his size will hurt his stock. WW was that a computer pick as well? there were a few odd ball ones in there. I had two horrendous thefts in my opinion in Round 2. Chris Williams and Philip Merling had no business dropping into round 2 and I think I got very good value on Tracy Porter. I expect Chris Williams to solidify the LT position in Oakland, something Robert Gallery could not do. I like Philip Merling in the first, I love him in the second, I think he is versatile enough to play 3-4 or 4-3 DE which, along with Gholston, provide the Ravens with a ton of options for their perennially stacked defense. I think Tracy Porter is one of the better man to man corners in the draft and should help the Cardinals secondary.
Rambo, I didn't pick it. Either the Deputy Commish did it or the GM. When the computer picks, It's the GM that set-up the board, so it's still Human driven. The Computer just speeds up the process of the mock, it doesn't pick players by random. Only the Commish and Deputy can make tha GM's pick if, they didn't set-up their board or check the pick box. FWIW, I been involved on Fast Mock for 4 years and the quality of the GM's knowledge doesn't compare to our Merger Mock on TGG. So Kudo's to all you draftniks on TGG.
