In a head-to-head 5x5 league (R, RBI, SB, HR, OPS), how do you rank these players? Carl Crawford Miggy Cabrera Mark Texiera Joe Mauer Evan Longoria Ryan Howard Matt Kemp
I can tell you how much each of them went in my two auction drafts. That might give you a good indication of how fantasy baseball players rate these fellows. I don't care much about where they got drafted in my snake drafts because someone might have reached for a guy or maybe the player plays for the dude's real life favorite team and stuff. I think how much was spent on the players in auction drafts is rather telling.
league 1 Joe Mauer- $50 Evan Longoria- $37 Ryan Howard- $36 Matt Kemp- $35 *Mark Teixeira- $32 Miguel Cabrera- $29 Carl Crawford- $28 league 2 Evan Longoria- $39 Ryan Howard- $38 Joe Mauer- $38 *Matt Kemp- $35 Mark Teixeira- $34 *Miguel Cabrera- $33 Carl Crawford- $28 *indicates I drafted the player
Let's just say Mauer's a waste of a first round pick. Don't buy into it. Great player, great guy...but who cares if C is a scarce position, he doesn't do enough to warrant that draft status. You're better off filling other positions with better talent.
With those categories... Longoria Kemp Howard Teixiera Miggy Crawford Mauer That's what I would go with anyway. Longoria's at the top because he's an elite player on a solid offense at a scarce position. Mauer's at the bottom mostly because you don't have an Avg category. I mean I know you have OPS, but without a category of just pure avg, he's not worth it. It's a head to head league, which is a concern for Crawford. He's hot and cold, which sucks in H2H. He had VERY few steals down the stretch last season. So he could win steals outright for you early on, but down the stretch he'll fail when you need him. Don't get me wrong, if I can get him in the 2nd round of my draft I'll be pretty happy. But a guy like Mauer is someone I don't even want to draft in the 2nd.
