I know, it's Lombardi, but that would be a surprise.

absurd if you asked me....the Jets are going for it this year..next year, with a strike looming..yeah..I can see a slight veteran cleaning of the house...Thomas is a possibility I guess if they draft a stud linebacker.

I can't imagine the Jets cutting Ellis and Faneca when we are making a super bowl run this season. That might not be the best decision.

This is dumb. Why would they waive them?

I don't get it at all. Why would they want to take drastic measures off the back of a successful season. I know we had to get better at certain areas, but this is crazy.

    Doesn't make any sense.

DL is short on starters to begin with.

Who would replace Faneca on the oline.

Thomas is still good depth, even if he is not starting.

This would be dumb. If we're going for it all in a non cap year why not keep some of our most valuable players. This move doesn't make sense even further considering we don't even have replacements.

No way they cut Ellis, not now, not this year.

Makes no sense to waive your starting left guard, starting left defensive end and starting outside LB when there are no replacements aboard.

We know that can change quickly with Thomas but I can't see Faneca and Ellis being waived. Not in a million years. Absurd.

I could see most players on the team being traded in a major trade-up attempt, because with Tanny anything is possible. But to just waive these players, in a no cap year no less, just makes absolutely zero sense, and there is no way it happens.

Lombardi doesn't really give an explanation. If they cut even one of those players they'd better have a damn good explanation.

In other words, I think Lombardi is full of it.

I have long held this opinion, but he was spot on about us wanting Cromartie when I thought it was nonsense.

I know Rex doesn't need great ends in his system, but who is gonna play there - Devito, Pitoitua and Rodrique Wright?

The Jets are already thin at DE, why would they release their best one?

Faneca is due 8.8 mill dollars... not saying it's right to get rid of him by any means but that's a lot of money.

If they cut Ellis I will be REALLY pissed. No reason at all to get rid of him.

    B. Thomas... ther is no way I want to go into the season with Pace, a rook, Westerman and Gholston. However if we get Taylor and a rook I can see why we are letting him go.

At the ned of the day we still NEED Faneca and Elli and with Thomas it depends...

I dont see the Jets cutting Ellis and Faneca... Faneca opens to many holes for the running backs

You arent kindding... Ellis would be a stupid guy to trade, much less cut. We don't even have a starter opposite him, so getting rid of him would be very stupid.

Thomas is replaceable, and depending on the draft pick we could get, it would be worth it to move him, but cutting him would be stupid because he would provide adequate depth, if you wanna cut a guy, cut Gholston since he can't even get on the field...

Faneca's play has been slipping of late, and he definately not what he was, but with no semblance of a replacement even on the way (unless Iupati falls to us, but even then a year behind Faneca would benefit him greatly) its retarded.

The only one I would accept moving is Thomas, IF Taylor is brought in AND we draft a young guy in the top 2 rounds who we expect to be a starter by 2011, if not sooner. Moving the other two is just plain stupid.
