this is a pete kendell situation all over again, totally undervauling the importance of lineman, I hate this move and I hate trading leon to get a FB, and we totally ignored the DL, I for one am pissed off
this third day is a bad day for the jets. we traded leon for the terminator and release alan faneca. it cant get much worse
After remembering the Kendal move I am really worried about this..I don't know if this is a smart move though..continuity is everything in an offensive line. this guy Vlad is raw... how quickly is he going to be able to play on an elite level...there is no way he is going to be as good of a run blocker as Faneca this year...on a win now team.you have to be a little worried about this..maybe Calahan has Slauson or someone ready to fill in till Vlad is ready..in an uncapped year this is tough to be confident about but I trust Mr. T but i have not forgotten about the Kendall thing none the less.
Leon is worht a lot more than a fifth rounder...special teams ability alone...his upside is insane if he comes back healthy...i don't know why we let him go for nothing..i hope they know a lot of things we don't
We could always do what he did with Moore and bring him back at a reduced salary. What Faneca was making was too much for the downslide in his production.
Well then we have to pay him his guaranteed money and then whatever we sign him for right? I would imagine that would be close to if not more than he was going to make this year.
We'll be fine. Looks like Brick is crying on Twitter. I'm sure Mangold is in a coma. I bet Jason Davis just has some stress diarrhea. All will be forgotten after game 1.
Did you ever think that Faneca's play slipped last year? They gained most of their yards running right and now you add an aggressive 330lb roadgrader at LG and lose $2.5mm of Faneca's salary. Faneca was not that good at run blocking anyway...
Worth more, how so??? his agent priced him out, coming off a mjor injury that was described as career threatening, he's just started running in a straight line... Come on... because he says he'll be healthy and his agent says it, and his agent is a greedy prick... you believe them... are you people are that gullible???
I don't understand how we couldn't get SOMETHING for Faneca. I mean, he's not even worth a 7th round pick?
If you look at some of the stats that have been thrown around, he hasn't been effective in the running game or passing game... We run to the right, and he gave up a good amount of sacks...if the rook gives us more power running left, this turns into an upgrade. Faneca's cap # isn't worth trading for...as most teams looking to add him are probably coming from struggling markets...like a Detroit type. If he decides to keep playing it will be for a good bargain...not 7.5 mil
THIS! Everything was pointing to a win now SB contender. Now. Pft. This Saturday did NOT go as expected.
Maybe it's his contract no one wants to touch. I don't think anyone really believes Faneca is worth $7 million this year.
