https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...-todd-bowles-for-head-coaching-job-next-week/ OMG. Arthur Blank has gone senile. Falcons will interview Todd Bowles for head-coaching job next week Posted by Mike Florio on January 5, 2021, 11:24 PM EST Getty Images A year after joining forces with Tom Brady in Tampa, Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles could be dealing with Brady twice per year. Again. Per a league source, the Falcons will interview Bowles next week for their vacant head-coaching position. Bowles served as head coach of the Jets from 2015 through 2018, generating a record of 24-40. He went 10-6 but missed the playoffs in his first year on the job. Bowles rejoined Bruce Arians in Tampa for the past two seasons. The team’s defense has become an underrated strength of the team, given the amount of focus on the efforts to take the offense to the next level with the addition of players like Brady, tight end Rob Gronkowski, and receiver Antonio Brown.
It could just be compliance with Rooney rule or maybe TB has learned from his previous HC experience and is ready for another shot at it. I’m sure he won’t make the same mistakes again, unless he hires Kaci Rodgers, then he’s doomed.
Hated here but highly regarded around the league. Insiders fully expect him to get another shot at hc. Doubt he gets the falcon job but this is the beginning of him getting back in the hc circuit
Unlike Gase, he was a reasonable hire who just didn't work out. He's had 2 years to reflect on what went wrong when he was our HC. Maybe he improves in his second HC job, maybe he doesn't. Time will tell.
Nice enough bloke and if I was him I'd be happy to stay at DC not getting any of the flack that you get when HC and still making a nice living.
I might be wrong, but he seems like the sort of chap who thinks and reflects. It wouldn't surprise me if two years out head coaching have given him time to re-assess what went wrong here and how to improve. As long as it doesn't cause us problems, I wish him all the best.
Bowles hurt himself last night in my eyes at least. His defensive playcalling is too predictable in terms of when he's going to blitz and even Dungy kept saying he's going to continually blitz on 3rd down no matter what. WFT handled it well though and there were no adjustments - nothing we didn't see here.
Weren’t the Falcons interested in Bowles the year they hired Dan Quinn? I vaguely remember that Bowles and Quinn were the two hot coaching prospects, and the Jets hired Bowles, and the Falcons took Quinn. Then again, I could be completely wrong.
I remember it that way as well Quinn ranked slightly higher than Bowles, but the Jets pulled the trigger Bowles early (to almost universal acclaim, LOL) rather than wait for the Seahawks season to be over
Bowles was hampered by some bad drafting his loyalty to his DC and could not fins a decent OC. He was also inexperienced and I would suspect has grown. He is to much of a defense guy for my liking.
I could see Bowles winning with a guy like Matt Ryan..Our last top 10 offense was Bowles first year...When Fitzpatrick Decker,Marshall and Ivory were our offense.People forget but we were a really good team that year...I honestly feel like if Bowles didnt lose to the Bills and got knocked out of the playoffs his whole tenure here would have been diffrent.I feel like he was never able to get past that.
