Seattle has offered their #1 which is 31st overall and the Falcons don't want to give up the 15th overall for Abe.

If you look at the value chart which every team now uses we could come to a good value trade with the Falcon by giving our 5th rounder with Abe and they would package their 2nd & 3rd round picks.

It would be slightly higher in value than the 31st overall and most fans would be happy. The Falcon are leaning toward the deal and giving our 5th with Abe should seal it.

    #31 = 600 points

    #47 (430) + #79 (195) = 625 points

The only way Seattle could match that deal would be to trade their 1st & 5th round picks for Abe straight up. Which they won't.

    Win = Win

    Abe to the Falcons

  2. Again, I'm not so sure the whole Seattle thing is nothing more than to get the Falcons to up their ante. W/ the way negotiations have gone, at this point, there better be a 1st rounder involved.

The only problem with that scenerio is that there are around 40 first round grade players in this draft, so with the 31st, your going to be getting a bonafide 1st round talent. But, when you drop back 16 spots, your not going to be getting a bonafide first, but a 2nd round graded player.

Unless of course they wanted to trade the #4 and Atlanta's second to NO to move up and get Leinart at #2. In that case, I think it would be worth it.

Every draft spot is a gamble, there are no sure things. Two first day picks for a guy that doesn't want to be on the team is a good thing.

    #31 = 600 points

    #15 = 1050 points

    #68 = 250 points

Jets trade John Abraham & their 3rd round choice (#68) to the Atlanta Falcons for their 1st selection (#15)

    1050-250=800 points

ATL has to beat SEA if they want Abe

No, I wouldn't even take that deal if we gave them just abe without the 5th. Either the 15 overall or a 2nd, 3rd, & 4th for abe.

    625 > 600 push Falcons

My senario would work and make both teams plus the majority of the fans happy.

2nd, 3rd AND 4th...lol....god this is almost as bad as the "abraham for 2nd and Kerney" deal which was brought up on this board. Besides, we dont have a 4th round pick to give if the deal with cleveland gets finalized tomorrow.

Sorry, but 31 is not fair value for abraham either.

If Abraham was in the draft this year, where do you think he'd be drafted?

31st? I do not think so.

You guys really have yourselves fooled.

The 2nd and 3rd are worth more that the 31st.

The report is the Jets accepted the 31st. Obviously, you think his trade value as a franchise player is a little high.

    No 4th? Fine then add something like a 6th and a 7th.

Since the Seahawks 31st pick equals 170 points more on the value charts than Atlanta's 2nd round pick, if we swapped our 2nd and 3rd round picks with Atlanta, in addition to getting their first round pick, it would be equivalent to getting the 31st pick from the Seahawks, at least from a value chart perspective.

1st rounder or no go. If the Falcons want him that badly they have to cough up this years or next years 1st rounder.

    Disregard RobA...

    2nd, 3rd and 4th will never happen...

I think the best offer would be Abraham for Atlanta's 2nd and 3rd round draft choices...it is better than the 31st pick and it also gives us excellent trade bait to move up in the draft to #2 to get our guy...

I am in no way an expert in the whole "value chart" thing, but I do agree with the posters who have pointed out that there are only a certain number of top talents out there (as opposed to best players at their positions) , and it's unlikely that any will be left at #47.

I voted no on this poll for a completely different reason, however. The Jets have gone on record saying that they want a 1st round pick for Abraham, and backing off that now will make them look weak, and negate a lot of what I think has been a very positive offseason so far. So, rather than having the Falcons add something to a 2nd rounder to get up to a first rounder, I would prefer the Jets adding something on their side - some combination of pick and/or player with Abraham for the Atlanta first rounder.

It is not better than the 31st pick. I don't care what value board you look at. 31st pick offers the opportunity for 3 out of the top 35.

    31st > 47th and 79th.

Especially considering that we are likely to have a compensatory pick in the 3rd.

    hell no.

I'd trade Abe for the 15th overall, or for a 2nd this year and a 2nd next.

Or maybe a 3rd this year and a 1st next. Or Schaub and a 2nd next year.

No way. If it were for just a 2nd and 3rd, I sure as hell am not giving a 5th rounder back.

The comp pick has very little to do with whether the 31st is worth as much as the 47th and 79th or not.
