Let's start out with this - yes - he's rich beyond his wildest dreams.

    Big deal.

For the way his coaching career started out with the Jets, then the debacle in Buffalo, and hasn't had a sniff from anyone in years, with this announcement, Rex Ryan's fall from grace is complete.

The man has always been a buffoon, much more style than anything resembling substance, and now he's turning into a complete and total clown show.

Talk about falling off a cliff...NOBODY takes him seriously and he has only himself to blame.

Rex Ryan is about to get hit with a dose of reality — TV, that is.

The former Jets coach and current ESPN analyst is among the contestants on season 34 of CBS’ “Amazing Race” this fall.

Ryan, 59, is partnered with his golf buddy Tim Mann, a 41-year-old probation officer from Brentwood, Tenn. to make up “Team T-Rex.” They’ll make up one of 12 pairs — including long lost twins, former NFL cheerleaders, ballroom dancers, motivational speakers, according to Entertainment Weekly — competing in a race around the world with a $1 million prize.

More post-season wins than any NY Jets coach.

You must not know much about the Jets and their coaches. Whatever you may believe Ryan to be, he is quite arguably the second best coach the New York Jets have ever had. Only Weeb Ewbank and Joe Walton coached more Jets games. Ryan's W-L record is better than either of theirs but only Ewbank wore a ring. Ryan led his team to both more playoff appearances and more playoff wins than any other Jets coach. I would take that quite seriously if I just showed up and wanted to be taken seriously myself.

It's all very subjective, however I would not place Rex Ryan as the 2nd best coach in franchise history.

I would place Weeb at number 1, followed by Bill Parcells and then Walt Michaels who was a hell of a football coach.

So I'd place Weeb at #1

I'd place Bill Parcells at #2

    Walt Michaels at # 3

Ryan at #4? That's arguable I guess, but I never thought he'd be a long term winning HC with the Jets - and he wasn't.

Overall Ryan was 61–66 and 4-2 in the playoffs as you mention.

After his 2nd year it was all downhill as he never finished above .500 one time despite his pre-season predictions of how he had great rosters and the Jets would break through. His collective record over his last 64 Jets games was an unimpressive 26-38.

The Buffalo debacle - after he first trashed the Bill defensive effort at his opening presser - was where he was obviously exposed. He promised to end Buffalo's playoff drought.

8-8 in year 1 with the Bills.

7-8 with the Bills in year 2 - and fired before his last game in season 2.

    No playoffs.

So his collective coaching record in the NFL was 61-68.

After being fired by the Bills he hasn't had any team putting him on their lists as a potential HC - and with good reason.

He's been a joke since leaving the NFL, a sub-mediocre media talent, and he's basically turned into a cartoon of himself over the last few years.

He caught lightning in a bottle his first 2 seasons but he is a terrible evaluator of talent and he was never able to build a sustained foundation of winning football with the Jets.

Parcells had a better record but wasn't here as long and was less successful in getting into the playoffs and winning playoff games. Walt Michaels ahead of Ryan? No way. Fewer games coached. Worse W-L record. Fewer playoff appearances. Fewer playoff wins. By what objective measure do you put him ahead of Ryan?

Ryan was 50 - 52 at the Jets; who cares what he did in Buffalo? Are you actually here as a disgruntled Bills fan? The section here is about the New York Jets so there's no need to talk about How anyone did anywhere else. This entire topic belongs in the BS section anyway; Ryan left the Jets eight years ago.

True, but Parcells inherited a 1-15 team (10 total wins previous 3 years combined actually) and then had the Jets in the AFC Championship game in 2 years. That is pretty darn impressive.

Rex was handed the keys to a much nicer home when he moved into One Jet Drive. Sure, we had some pretty good parties his first few years, but by the time he left, the place was trashed :)

If Ryan is the second-best coach in Jets history, does that tell us more about Jets' W-L history than it does about Ryan's coaching skills?

Is there a prop bet for whether or not the foot incident is mentioned?

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Rex not only won more playoff games... all on the road mind you...
...he coached more payoff games than any other Jet coach.

Love him or hate him... facts is facts.

Are you not aware or conveniently not remembering that Parcells was his own GM, responsible both for buying the groceries and cooking the meal? Ryan did not have that advantage and had to deal with whatever Tannenbaum and Idzik tossed on his plate. In spite of being able to call all the shots, Parcells quit twice on the Jets, first as coach, then as Director of Football Operations.

Not sure where to put this, but since it's foot related, it is probably a better fit here.

I saw a guy wearing Yeezy Foam Runners today. First time I have seen someone wearing those. They were like red and white swirled in color. I thought he had bloody bandages on his feet at first. Then I saw them close and they are probably the dumbest shoes I have ever seen. What the fuck?

    Edit: this is them

And they pay a couple of hundred to wear them. Give me some $20 bubble slides instead and I am set.
