Even with the win, the jets still has issues big time on offensive. They would have lost easy to a good team playing like they have the past three games. Too much talent for that subpar play. Win is a win is not always the way to go playing like that.
they need to address discipline, secondary communication (still), and offense as a whole (although apparently the 2 minute offense works).
Yeah.....they are very, VERY fortunate to win this game. The penalties and complete lack of team discipline needs to be fixed. Also, we need consistent, solid play from our offense. That being said (from a long time SOJ fan) they have won 3 games the SOJ's always lose. The Vikes, Broncos and Lions game may be making strides away from SOJ.
A win is better than a loss, but I still don't feel good about a team that needs a miracle--and some idiocy by the opponent--to beat fucking Detroit. The first 56 minutes mean a lot more to me than the last 4, and in those 56 we saw a sloppy, undisciplined team that couldn't get out of their own way. A defense that couldn't get pressure, or off the field, a quarterback who couldn't hit an open receiver. A hideously predictable offense that failed to accomplish the ground-and-pound they set out for. A win is a win, but we didn't deserve the W.
By the same token, we embarrassed the Patriots at home. Yes, we were lucky to win. But we did. They have to know what needs to be addressed in practice this week.
My biggest problem with the offense, is that it relies way too much on the big (yards) play. Just think about most of the TDs this season. Long TD passes and runs of more than 20 yards. When our offense doesn't get the big chunk, it really struggles it seems. The play that won us the game was a 52 yard pass to Holmes is a perfect example. Big plays are great, but I'd like to see most consistently when we have to methodically drive down the field like we did at the end of regulation.
