You can fault Tannenbaum for the coaching staff he hired and didn't fired all you want and it's probably deserved.

But you gotta give credit to the guy. He brought in Brett Favre, Damien Woody, Tony Richardson, Kris Jenkins, Alan Faneca and Calvin Pace in ONE off-season. Granted, part of that is just going on a spending spree and having players flock to the money. But every one of those guys was a big addition to the team this year and brought a lot to the table. Faneca is the only guy who arguably did not earn the amount of money he got paid. But you gotta admit that, despite all the misery of this season, Tannenbaum did a tremendous job of bringing talent to the team through free agency.

Favre and Faneca were mild busts considering what we gave up to get them. Just about every other move was a home run.

Even with hindsight being what it is, I still think the Favre move was the right move to make. He probably wasn't worth what we gave up given that he was only a little better than Chad would have been. But, again, I still think it was the right move.

And Faneca is overpaid but we needed to upgrade the line and he's been solid, only not the star we paid for.

How can anyone defend the Favre move after today?????? It defies logic.

Tannenbaum had a great Off season. This isnt his fault. It falls on the shoulders of Mangini and this Jets coaching staff. And it falls on the shoulders of the QB as well.

We might have the worst Defensive line in the NFL.

Penny is doing better due to better coaching, if Penny had stayed here he probably would get overexposed by this coaching staff where his arm strength would be a problem yet again. At the time of the move it was a good move.

I have nothing against Tannenbaum. He upgraded the o-line big time, got us the nose tackle we needed and he picked up some big players this offseason. He also got us the quarterback we clamored for but obviously Mangini and co. shit the bed. This team has no confidence and Favre is done. And we as a team are done, I will lose my faith in Tannenbaum if I see mangini around again next year.

I was a poster that thought Mangini can be a good coach. I am no longer one of those people.

No it doesn't. We've had a fun season. You liked it better last year? Or 2006? Even when we won we were boring to watch. This is much more entertaining. Sad ending, but a fun ride well worth a 3rd round pick.

Exactly my opinion. Farve was the right move to make, he was great for us when he had to be up until mid season. Even today when that 4th down throw had to be made, he makes his best throw of the day. So I for one, hope Favre is back next year. Even if he is only going to keep the seat warm for a young stud in the making, who ever that may be.

Faneca was a move I wasnt to thrilled with for the money it was going to cost. But we needed a big time splash on our OL, and we got it. He has been above average, and definately NOT the caliber player we payed for. On the flip side, if we stay in a 3-4 defense, Calvin Pace will prove to be worth every penny, and then some. Well Jenkins was phenomenal until he got hurt early in the Denver game. Post Tennessee he was "leading candidate for Defensive player of the year" Whens the last time we have ever had a player in contention for that major an award that late in the season? I honestly dont know.

I am unfortunately, officially on the bandwagon. Our coaching staff has been awful this year. They need to leave. I thought eventually the gears would click, but nope. Still running horrible defensive plays against horrible teams. Still NOT running the ball Jones only had 17 carries today on a day where the we couldnt pass worth beans and the conditions sucked balls. thats just stupid. Mangini had multiple idiotic calls today, not kicking the field goal, even letting the delay of game happen, christ Feeley let about 5 seconds run off the clock after it hit 0, before it was snapped! TO maybe? Eric? then going for it on 4th and 5 on our 20. Punt that shit every time with 3 TO plus the 2 minute warning. if you go and fail (as we did) the game is OVER, they got a chippie field goal for free.

BTW Petro, love the "Mangini has to go!" thing its great.

    Clean house, including Tannenbaum.

    1. Spending millions that just get passed on to fans is no great feat, and what have these guys done?

    2. His drafts are subpar at best...yeah, he got Mangold, Revis, and Keller...all first rounders who were the top-ranked guys at their position...not that impressive a feat. His other first round picks (Ferguson and Gholston) are not something to put on the resume, and his miss on taking a talent like Cutler is damning.

    3. His poor assessment of offensive linemen (Randy Thomas and especially Kareem McKenzie) and his complicity in the ousting of Mawae and Kendall could be criminally negligent.

Fuck Tannenbaum...this is a team that is still miles away.

Tanny is the least of your trouble. He's done pretty well in the draft. You can't just throw out the Mangold, Revis, and Keller picks. Ferguson isn't awful. Jury still out on Gholston. Harris, Leon and Stuckey were very good picks.

Even with their relative success, I believe the Jets are proving once again that big ticket free agents are NOT the way to develop a winning team. I was against the signings then and even more against them now.

Why are you responding intelligently to one of the resident retards?

Tannenbaum actually is the least of the problems right now. He did what any GM is supposed to do when he has a bare cupboard. He upgraded pretty much every position from scratch.

Tannenbaum did an excellent job restocking this team and is not part of the problem.

However, he will become part of the problem if he attempts to save Mangini's job.
