Good. Although we dont know if it affected any of those games...err..dont have any evidence or how long they have been doing it this is the same reason we crucify bonds and dont recognize him as the HR king. AT least i dont
Not sure if making this a dichotomous response is accurate though. I mean they did earn probably most of those SBs, so I would say, tarnished but still impressive.
Man, now that I think of it, I always used to wonder why the Pasts had so many cameramen on their sidelines, even way back to 2000. They must have been cheating all along.
what sucks is that i don't see how we'll ever know what they where doing a year or two ago... or 5....can the league try and "flip" some of BB's staff like a prosecuting attorney would? I doubt it...
I hate the cheaters!! I always wonderd how they stopped the high powered Rams in the SB a few years ago. NOW I KNOW!!!
I agree, I put him in the same category as Bonds. As far as I'm concerned, you can put an asterick next to those Super Bowl wins. I left a message in one of these threads about how great the Pats offensive line was at protecting Brady on Sunday, and then all of this comes out. It isn't hard to look good when you know what the other team is calling. This issue goes to several different levels, and I think that is why Bellicheat was so pissed that Mangini took a job in the same division. As I read in one newspaper, they stated that Mangini kissed and told cause he knew the Patriots did this and he finally got the proof to show it to the NFL. And it makes sense that this is what Bellicheat feared all along. Mangini knows his deal, they're in the same division, and that is why Bellicheat is pissed.
I personally think this is a little worse than any kind of banned substance issue. Steroids and the like are a personal choice that should the use of them be discovered would only impact the "user(s)." For example: Rodney Harrison. This tampering really casts into doubt the entire Pats team. Are they really so good?
I think we will find out when they play the Chargers. If I ever placed bets on games i'd be betting on the Chargers.
i don't see how taping a single game invalidates all their past games except in the minds of people who would specifically be trying to get to that conclusion; if more information comes to light.......yeah its possible.
The thing is that the Pats have played fast and loose with the rules for years (the injury reports, the mugging of receivers more than 5 yards down field etc.) but the NFL really never did anything to them. While this was happening, they were being held up as some sort of paragon of virtue because they only draft players of "High Moral Character" and because they won with them. Brady was this rags to riches story, a 6th round pick wins the Superbowl etc. Now as for Brady, if you give any QB an extra 1 or 2 Seconds to find the right receiver and not take a sack or force a pressured, ill advised pass, you can make an average QB look like a Great one. This is possible even with sub par WR's because your also giving them extra time to get open. Is this why he (and their offense overall) has been so good for so long? This has opened a whole can of worms and you have to wonder about all the things that offense has accomplished over the past few years. I think that the NFL should go back and review all the tapes of all their games to see if they were doing this all along.
