Ok, I'm ready to be thrown under the bus here.

I feel Berry is the best player in the draft, also considering we now have a hole at Safety, what would it take for us to get this guy?

I know we won't get him, it'll never happen, just making a discussion.

Itll take our 1st, next years 1st, our 2nd, and a players like maybe Harris or Braylon just to MAYBE move up to 7th pick which is the browns where he hopefully falls. WAYY too much for one player and Pool and Leonhard will do just fine. We can draft a later round FS to develop. No need for him.

I agree he will be going to Cleveland. I was talking to a friend today who said "Browns would give up #7 for a 2nd in 2010, a 4th in 2010, a 2nd in 2011, and Leon Washington"

That pretty much started this whole deal.

It's making conversation, if you want to be 12 and think you are OVER this thread, ignore it. Simple as that.

I totally agree, I think it would cost us our 1st this year, our 2nd this year, and I'm sure our 1st next year. Not worth it.

I'd just really love to see this guy as a Jet. You never know tho, I don't think anyone called us getting Sanchez as cheap as we did last year.

Then what the fuck is the point of this conversation? There are plenty of players I would love to see play for the Jets in this draft that we aren't going to get. Should we start 28 threads for those guys?

The farthest he could possibly drop is to Miami at 12 which would never work soo very impossible

As I said to the last guy, this is a simple conversation thread of the "What ifs" in the draft. If you feel the need to make threads, go for it, does not mean we all have to read it. Tell me I don't have the right to make this thread? It would be an amazing pick for us if we can get him for the right price. Will it happen, no it won't, just dreaming like every Jets fan likes to do.

I don't see him getting past the Browns no matter what. Sad as it seems, he'll be on a pretty bad team. I just hope the poor bastard doesn't land in Oakland some how.

I agree that he's a top talent, but I don't be so quick to jump down his throat...

Eric Berry might also play CB, but he's mainly a safety prospect. Historically, that's been a position that hasn't gotten drafted TOO high... If Cleveland passes on him at 7 for someone like CB Joe Haden or QB Jimmy Clausen, it's possible that he falls out of the top ten to someone like Miami at 12. But that's his floor IMO.

For us to get there, it would probably take our 2nd and next years picks, so I don't think it's worth it at all. But he would be one hell of a player.

For safeties, I think Nate Allen from USF MIGHT be available at 29. (I think he's a riser who could get into the first round). I think he has a chance to have an outstanding career and become a real asset for this defense.

But Berry.... Probably out of the question unless they wanna give up most of this year's draft

Well, last year, it took us only #17, a 2nd, and three scrubs to move up from 17 to 5. So to get from 29 to 7, just based on that, would probably cost #29, a 2nd, a 2011 1st, and maybe Leon or Brad Smith.

Why trade up so high when Earl Thomas can be had for a fraction of that price? I mean, if we're talking trading up for a safety 'n all.

I've heard a number of analysts state that if Thomas isn't right on par with Berry's talent, he's very close behind. I've also watched vids on him myself, and absolutely love the way he plays. He would be a beast in our defense, especially coming off the edge blitzing. The kid just gets after it.

I also think that if there's one player in this draft Tanny is eying to move up for, it's Thomas, if he happens to fall somewhere in the early 20s. Outside of him, I just don't see anyone else worth us losing picks over.

Not to change the subject or anything but what do you guys think is the limit or the highest point we could trade up to get a player we're high on?

It's not a pointless discussion. You must not know who our GM is.

Way to change the subject ahole. I think the farthest we would trade up is high teens or low 20's. Which would take our 1st and 2nd.

I don't think it will take that much to move up to the top 10s of the draft when you consider that if a team in the top 10 want to move down and gather picks they will settle for a 1st and 2nd this year and a possible player. And the only teams able and willing to make these trades are the teams on the cusp of something like the Jets are which are far and in between and way less then there are teams that want to move down because they have a lot of holes to fill. So a team wanting to turn one potential stud into 2 potential studs with a already proven player (like washington) would need us. The team we want to trade with don't hold all the cards especially if we was to get Adelious Thomas or Taylor to fill one of our holes.

Robert Johnson of the Utes is a smart option later in the draft.

trading that high up for a player who isn't a franchise changer doesn't help anyone.
