Just received the following text message from www.newyorkjets.com Looked on the website and all over, I can't find any other details. Anyone know anything about it?
I can only think that this is for a banned substance...Isn't 4 games the stardard first offense suspension?
http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/articles/show/2678-nfl-suspends-qb-erik-ainge-4-games The NFL just released this statement on QB Erik Ainge through a league spokesperson: “Erik Ainge of the New York Jets has been suspended without pay for four games for violating the NFL Policy on Steroids and Related Substances. “Ainge’s suspension begins immediately. He will be eligible to rejoin the team on Monday, December 15, following the Jets’ December 14 game against the Buffalo Bills.” The Jets placed Ainge on injured reserve on October 28. Ainge, a fifth round selection from Tennessee, was inactive for the Jets’ first seven games and then went to IR with a foot injury.
This is one sick f**king story--holy shit! WTF? Terrible PR to be associated with as a rookie who has never played. Guess we are down to two QB's next Spring. Wow!
Who the hell cares we have Brett Ratliff and hes our future.Ainge can be retained as a jock washer if the NFL allows it.
i really hope so. If he's the real deal he knows the offense. It'll be about game experience with him. And he's only 23.
All this Ainge hate it is weird. I live on the west coast and remember when the Cal team played UT the Cal defensive players had nothing but good things to say about Ainge and especially mentioned how tough he was. He started for most of his career at UT, has a lot of potential.
How can he be suspended 4 games if he's on IR? I can see 4 games next year but doesn't IR make you ineligible to play the rest of the year anyway?
but he is still tested. I bet he tried to get healthy with whatever he took and it didn't work. He is on the roster, so he gets suspended. Its a good time to get suspended, because it really means nothing.
I don't get it? Maybe he was using to recover from the injury he was IRed for? I mean I just don't get it...
