I will be a jet fan as long as I live but i will admit there are times when i dread it. So far this off-season my co-workers have been in their glory seeing their teams actually pick up players. When they hear the name jets they burst out laughing. These are the three things they would be laughing at: 1) have Chad Pennington 2)considering picking an O-lineman with the 4th pick 3) they cant sign FA's
Your #2 should not be laughed at considering that Brick is a phenom. Your #3 applies to a veteran tackle who is looking to finish his career and did not want to have to move again. Besides, where's the evidence that we offered more? From all the reports around when he visited, he supposedly left with no offer made.
I too will be a jets fan as long as I live, and also become very frustrated at times.......however lets givetangini chance here, they obviously have a plan and with plenty of under the cap room they can afford to be choosey and patient instead of "jumping at big names". Any successful or superbowl material team must build or rebuild... its not gona happen overnight. tell your coworkers you bleed gree & could give two feces about what they think
im still trying to overcome the shell shocking of the Abe deal ive been hearing it since it happened.MANY cannot believe we let him go for only a 29th pick in the upcoming draft.
The New York Jets the laughing stock of the NFL CANNOT choose an offensive lineman with the #4 pick.D-Brick is a monster i agree.Do any of you remember Tony Mandarich?
I will be a jet fan as long as I live but i will admit there are times when i dread it. Either go root for the Steelers, Pats, Cowboys or stop being a self hating Jet fan.
My advice....if your embarassed go jump on the bandwagon of another team.....nobody was laughing at the Jets two years ago in the playoffs................ I am so sick of all you nay sayers........ Heres my top 3 bandwagon teams for you next year: 1) Miami 2) Indy 3) Cincy
Do any of you remember Orlando Pace? For every counterexample on why not to take something, there is a counterexample to that.
Let them laugh. Remember how much people laughed at the Patriots in 2001 when they were signing all those 2nd and 3rd teir FAs? Nobody's laughing anymore. Of course I'm not saying we're on the same path, but it shows that what you do in the offseason goes beyond signing as many big names as you can.
I dont get why people think its funny that we are considering drafting an O-lineman with the 4th pick. Those people dont know much about football then
most people who watch football, even study football dont know very much about it. hell some head coaches dont know very much about football. (ill give you 2 guesses who that comment is pointed at)
How are we the laughing stock? We've made some decent moves. Nothing incredible, just decent. In fact, there are a lot of teams out there that don't seem to have done much at all this offseason. We got a first rounder for Abe, which is what we wanted all along. We were going to settle for #31 in the draft, but came away with #29. Not bad. We got Ramsey (yeah I know he's not the second coming or anything, but he's a good backup plan) for a 6th rounder when they were asking for a 2nd. Pretty damn good deal. We've freed up a ton of cap space and are set up for a damn good draft. So we didn't get an aging lineman who's past his prime. So what? We're rebuilding, and you don't rebuild with over the hill FA's. I think we've had a decent Free Agency period so far and I'm really excited to see what will happen in the draft. Just because the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says the Falcons ripped us off doesn't make it so. That's what you call being a "homer".
People will understand why we took the best first round pick available (29) when we move up for Matt Leinart.
Just so you know, many teams take Offensive lineman early.... RD....Pick....Player..............POS...School 1 2 Robert Gallery T Iowa 1 4 Mike Williams T Texas 1 7 Bryant McKinnie T Miami 1 2 Leonard Davis T Texas 1 3 Chris Samuels T Alabama 1 7 Kyle Turley T San Diego State 1 1 Orlando Pace T Ohio State 1 6 Walter Jones T Florida State 1 4 Jonathan Ogden T UCLA 1 10 Willie Anderson T Auburn 1 2 Tony Boselli T Southern California 1 8 Willie Roaf T Louisiana Tech 1 9 Lincoln Kennedy T Washington 1 8 Bob Whitfield T Stanford 1 10 Ray Roberts T Virginia 1 7 Charles McRae T Tennessee 1 8 Antone Davis T Tennessee That's just the Tackles...Want to see the Guards and Centers???
