From ESPN: Jets legend Joe Namath doesn't agree with how the team is handling Edwards' punishment. "As far as benching him for the start of the game being a penalty to Braylon, excuse me! That's not gonna bother him a little bit," Namath said on "The Michael Kay Show" on 1050 ESPN Radio. From USA Today (years past): Embarrassed by Saturday night's national television interview, pro football Hall of Famer Joe Namath admitted on Tuesday that he had been drinking and apologized to ESPN reporter Suzy Kolber for saying he wanted to kiss her. From Jetlaginca: Joe Willie, a once highly respected voice of this club, has been shooting his mouth off and now points out Edwards for DWI. Does he remember his Suzy Kolber incident on National TV? STFU already!
Namath has fried his brain w drugs and booze for too long. No wonder his daughters are so stupid Go back to nobody beats the wiz and pc Richards commerials plz (do either of those companies even exist anymore?)
Yeah, I love Namath for what he did for the club, but I try to ignore everything he has said and done in the last 30 years or so.
I don't see how you can compare the two, Joe simply made an ass of himself on national TV, Braylon hurt his team by risking driving drunk and now hes benched for the first series or so in Miami.
BTW, you don't see Namath up in Woody's private box during games, do you? Perhaps there's a reason? Perhaps?
similarly, i realized i should try not to carry on a coherent conversation about "being invisible" while deprived of sleep lol epic fail for me
Namath, you are the man for so many reasons, but your opinion is moot especially on issues of this nature. please go back to looking like an osteoporosis suffering zombie. < --
WTF does Namath care about how the team is punishing him? The ONLY thing I'll say about the punishment is that Edwards should have kept his damn mouth shut about not fighting a deactivation. That part of the CBA was the perfect excuse for the team to keep him active and keep the team as competitive as possible. All of this other stuff just reflects poorly on the Jets. You'd think Namath would know better than to go running his mouth and drawing more criticism on the team.
Joe talking about drinking is like the book Majic Johnson wrote about how to avoid getting AIDS. Huh? I love Joe, but he really does need to shut up. He makes himself look like an ass every time he says something lately.
Namath is obviously making a concerted effort to raise his profile. I can only think of two possible reasons: 1) He's trying to make money from something (book, website, get on radio/tv?) or 2) He thinks the Jets are going to win a Super Bowl this year and wants to be associated with it.
I hate that this guy now has a weekly segment b/c we have to hear his views that no one cares about. I agree w/ what he said but it's a little hypocritical coming from a guy like Joe who I would guess at some point drove drunk and the police looked the other way.
