His blocking and contributions after the catch have gone largely without mention to date. There were a few plays yesterday where he lined up for a block at just the right time- same goes for previous games. He's not getting much in the way of action lately, especially having been blanketed by Asomougha yesterday, but it doesn't stop him from being at the front of the line to congratulate a teamate. Unselfish play with a team-first mentality. I had figured that he'd be a bit of a diva now, a few games in, whining about not getting alot of touches- couldn't be farther from the truth.
Sanchez's job is going to be alot easier when we have Cotch back tp pair up him. W/ those 2 and Clowney plus keller he's going to have options.
Gotta agree...and you don't hear much about it. So far he has been a real asset for our offense. If we didnt have him now with the loss of Cotch and now Leon, I think we would really be in trouble.
I said the same thing to my kid during the game yesterday. Edwards is always one of the first in the area after a long play to help the RB up....because he is always downfield in the neighborhood making blocks for them. Gotta love that.....especially out of a guy who is pulling doubles all the time right now and rarely getting the ball. I'm really starting to like this guy.....
Sometimes a change of scenery is just what you need. I'm also happy he is drawing the double coverage and helping with the blocks instead of catching the ball because I don't want to cough up a 2nd rd pick to the browns
I agree he has been an asset. I was one who did not like this trade and I have to say he has done a great job so far of proving me wrong. I hope the FO can figure out a way to afford him in the off season!
hes been everything I had hoped him to be. With his addition the running game has really started to come on espically in the last 2 weeks
Edwards' contribution is that with the Sanchez/Edwards combination, we're finally able to stretch the field and teams have to respect that, and that is finally helping our running game. I've said all through the spring that we needed that WR threat, especially with Sanchez on board, and now we have it. Our offense is total night and day now compared to Chad/Coles or Chad/Cotchery with the crowding of the box nonsense. We finally have an offense. Damn... I'm sick over Leon though...
Edwards did well run-blocking yesterday, but he was absolutely terrible run blocking against the Bills. He put the least amount of effort into blocking last week.
The question is, can Sanchez make his reads? His progress depends on him and building on his experience, personally I don't think we are going to see a lot of progress until next year, there is really so much for him to learn that it won't be second nature until he has at least one year under his belt. I hope it is sooner however I'm of the opinion that it's not.
it will be interesting, then, to see how he does this weekend. like, was it just a good game against a bad team, or was it trying to improve on a bad game?
Rex said himself that Braylon is doing exactly what they wanted from him. Pulling coverage towards him and leaving other receivers and running options open. The PA and bootlegs worked great too. Keller was wide open on his big catch. They should run those often!!
That play to Keller was something I rarely ever see. Keller faked a chop block and then rolled over, got up , and caught a pass. It was the only "cute" call Schotty made that worked.
edwards, cotchery, clowney and keller.... with clowney emerging all of a sudden we have a really dynamic passing attack when everyone is healthy.
Agreed, it's part of being a team. Clowney stepped up again and caught what was thrown to him, caused by Edwards commanding attention. Clowney caught a nice one over the middle for a first down and of course made a good adjustment on the TD pass. Looks like he's more than just a fast Mr. August.
He's doing exactly what we got him here to do. He takes the pressure to his side. Too bad we don't have a QB to get the others the ball. When we get Cotch back we'll see what happens
