Guys don't forget to tune into the game this Sat. East-West Shrine game this Sat, Jan 23..3:00 P.M. EST ESPN2 Bradway and Clinkscales are already in attendance. Notables..East Squad: Greg Hardy Freddie Barnes..worth the price of admission. Chris Scott Mike Neal Kam Chancellor Kyle Calloway Blair White Notables..West Squad: Darrell Stuckey Joe Pawelek Dennis Pitta Mike Tepper John Estes The east squad looks stronger.
Just the fact that Greg Hardy is there and not at the senior bowl should be a sign about what teams are thinking about him. Great talent, he really needs to dominate this week in a game with good, but not elite competition. Other guys I'm watching for: DE Willie Young, NCSU DT Mike Neal, Purdue DT Torrell Troup, UCF OG Mitch Petrus, Arkansas OLB O'Brien Schofield, Wisconsin QB Mike Kafka, Northwestern TE Dennis Pitta, BYU OT Chris Marinelli, Stanford S Darrell Stuckey, Kansas S TJ Ward, Oregon S Robert Johnson, Utah
I'm pretty excited to see Lonyae Miller. He looked like a very good back until Ryan Mathews arrived in Fresno. Miller's 5'11 225 and he's got track speed - he was a highly recruited sprinter coming out of high school...but he was around 195 then.
Well, Lonyae Miller was a last second add to the West's Senior Bowl roster, so he ended up not playing in the Shrine Game. I was really impressed with Freddie Barnes - the guy is just a hell of a route runner.
He was killer on that last drive--he has that ability to just get open, find space on the field. I was also very impressed by Blair White--for someone who's not particularly fast, he is a surprisingly effective option in a downfield passing attack. I'm not sure whether he'd be an ideal fit as a slot receiver, or if he is better off lining up outside, but the dude is a straight up baller.
I would have no problem with the Jets drafting him with their 61st pick. I can't believe FB didn't get a combine invite...it must be a typo or sheer stupidity.
