Rd 1: WR. Rd 2: WR. Rd 3: WR. Only make an exception for a Jimmy Graham caliber TE.

I'd be happy with no 'projects' or giving up picks...

Agreed. Please, PLEASE no more projects. If I have to deal with any more Ducasse' or Hill's, I'll freak out.

Bradway really needs to be run out of town BTW.

Between free agency and the draft we need to find two big time play makers. Unless we somehow get another first rounder we really need to get at least one of them in free agency.

Draft should be BPA but we need to beef up our OL somehow.

What the Jets need more than anything else right now is good players. With the exception of DL I think they just have to take the best players available at their picks. If they have a defensive lineman atop their board at a pick they either have to trade down a bit or swallow hard and take the next guy on their board.

I do agree that overloading on the offensive talent is a priority but they can't be giving up solid players to take projects just because of that fact.

As much as I want them to load up on offensive talent, I think this is the correct way to go forward.

+1. The entire team just needs good players. WR, TE, OL, CB, FS, OLB, and, yes, QB -- the Jets need them all. Maybe our Jets aren't as far off as they seem, but, damn, it seems like it's a long way to go.

Jeremy Maclin/James Jones/Hakeem Nicks in FA. Either Watkins or Lee in the 1st round of the draft. In round 2 a OLB. Round 3 a FS and a tackle. I'd sign Pettigrew in FA.

    Next year

    Offense

    QB- Jay Cutler
    WR1- Jeremy Maclin/Hakeem Nicks/James Jones
    WR2- Jeremy Kerley
    WR3- Lee/Watkins
    WR- Nelson, Holmes
    TE1- Pettigrew
    TE2- Cumberland

You cannot go wrong with BPA unless you need a QB and you have a franchise QB at #2 or #3 behind an LT or Anthony Munoz type and you're picking first

Most definitely, EARTH TO THE JETS!!! The first two picks in the draft have to be WR, no question about it. No more projects, or he has the potential, or he was coming off an injury and he looks healthy. The JETS NEED, I MEAN NEED, a #1 Wide Receiver. Matter of fact, they need two of them. It's get Sammy Watkins and get Jordan Matthews and go from there!!!

    Never draft for need.

The path to mediocrity is littered with need picks.

James Jones is overrated. He would be a mediocre receiver without Rodgers. I like Nicks but watching him dogging it all this season was not very encouraging and he's always nicked up, pardon the pun. I'd take Maclin even though he's coming off surgery, he's a solid receiver and not a premadonna.

I know this always sounds good, but if the BPA is another defensive lineman, and the second or 3rd BPA is a wide receiver, do we take the lineman?

    Really????

I'm sorry, but BPA is subjective, draft boards are not perfect, nobody really knows who's gonna be better than who, and sometimes you just fucking need a wideout.

Sick of this GM/coach-speak bullshit. Everyone who's ever seen a football game (and half the people who haven't) know we need offense. I don't give two shits if the board says take a defender. If we do it next year I hope Jets fans burn down Radio City.

If we do go defense in round 1 then it better be a Von Miller caliber OLB.

Needs are what free agents are for.

You fill your holes in free agency to compete now.

You draft BPA to be competitive in 3-5 years.

If you are lucky or good enough to fill a hole in the draft go fill another hole.

So if the best player available is a dlineman do we draft him? We should pass up Lee or Watkins to draft a dlineman?

Earth to jets--lose Rex Ryan. This is what you get when you draft for defense year in and year out (and you tattoo a rotten Qb's number on your body).

Common sense dictates that unless you are talking about the second coming of Bob Lilly, passing up a player at a position of strength for the next best player is probably a good idea.

The thing about our DL is not just that they are all very good but that they are also very young.

On most teams the stronger units include veteran leaders who could retire or leave through free agency so usually BPA is still the way to go so that you can replace the older players before they leave. For us using a first rounder on DT, DE, or CB would seem to be a bad idea unless the prospect is a freak.
