I appreciate your effort, but there a few things I'm not so sure about: Winslow has played well for us, but he is on his last legs. If you have us drafting Amaro and retaining Cumberland, no need to sign him to a 2 year deal. Also, Cromartie is only getting older, I don't think it makes sense to commit to him for another year. Your free agent signings are really unrealistic, especially considering you have us giving Wilk an extension. I mean, I know we need lots of help at WR, but 4 wr's in free agency and another one in round 3 is just nowhere in the realm of possibility. Greg Hardy? Where would he play? You have him listed as an OLB, but there is no way he is an OLB, especially with the high price tag that he would command. I think my biggest criticism is that you listed 8 sizable free agent signings. If we're resigning Mo Wilk, I think we'll have enough cap room to responsibly sign 2 or 3 of the guys that you listed. And the draft...No way Jace Amaro gets out of the 1st round if the draft happened tomorrow, let alone all the way to pick #49. Kyle Von Noy is a guy that has been mocked to us for our first rounder. Again, if the draft is tomorrow, no way he lasts to #65. Yankey is a stretch at #33. I dunno...
Interesting, but way too many draft trades. What exactly are you trying to do here? Just get a lot of 2nd and 3rd round picks? Also I can't see why the Eagles would give us their 1st round pick in the situation you provided, even if it does match up with what that formula/table says.
You took Yankey too early and there is no way Amaro or KVN are around at those picks. Ontaining all of those free agents is a pipe dream. We'll be lucky to get two of those.
I used a recent mock draft on football's future (31 /32 chance it was not from a Jet fan) for the draft positions and used a trade value chart for the trades. Here is the mock I used to estimate draft position: http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=538106 I decided to keep Winslow but let Cumberland walk. Instead of spending most of our value on a mid / high first rounder I wanted to trade up / down to where most of the value was. We do have more picks (compensatory, 6th, & 7th that I just didn't bother guessing). Our current QB not withstanding it seems that most first and second rounders seem to earn a roster spot and many of them earn playing time and starting jobs. We have a lot of holes to fill and while some of them will end up in round one (this is a very early mock) some current "first rounders" will drop to round two and other guys will rise up out of nowhere giviing the spots where I picked some value. Also, my free agent strategy and draft strategy are mostly separate. I mostly passed up safeties in the draft because I did not like what was available but also did not feel that we needed to reach for one with the big signing. I did pick up a receiver Including Wilkerson I only signed three big free agents (Wilkerson, Hardy and either Byrd or Ward. Going after Graham or Veldheer if they are available means dropping other potential free agents and not resigning Austin Howard if we somehow got Veldeer. The rest of the free agents Maclin, etc. should be fairly inexpensive. Otherwise we find some cheaper guys. As for Greg Hardy I knew we could use a pass rusher, knew he had double digit sacks, and saw him kick our ass but did not realize the dude was 290 lbs. That you for pointing out that he isn't a fit at OLB (we already have one Coples). I will change it to Orakpo even through I am worried that he will be franchised with Jason Worlds as an alternate.
The Eagles who hopefully think they are going to the SB are moving up in round two and getting a high third rounder. In value terms they are trading a first rounder next year to get the equivalent of a second rounder this year. The value chart had us losing 5 points on the deal.
Highly doubt Riley Ccoper will be going anywhere especially if Maclin leaves. Not bad but realistically way too many trades.
There is no way Van Noy will be available at 65. He might not be available at 15. I understand the Jets needs at WR and TE, but I prefer Van Noy over any guys at those other two positions. Van Noy should be an impact player and has star potential. He rushes the passer well and is good in coverage.
I don't see it with Van Noy....Zack Martin absolutely just killed him in their head to head matchup when I saw BYU take on the Irish for instance. His sacks have gone down from 13(Thanks Ansah) to 4 this year. I mean he can be a steady player on a defense if that's what you're looking for but some game changer? Ehh. He is good in coverage though and I think he can be a solid starter in the NFL....just not sure about a superstar. That being said, yeah I don't see him dropping to round 3. Round 2? Yeah, I would not be shocked if he's there when the Jets pick in round 2.
To be fair, Zack Martin shut down some other fantastic defensive players, including Trent Murphy of Stanford. Actually he if falls to the 2nd I would be all for taking Martin. Solid, consistent, versatile o-lineman.
