PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The Philadelphia Eagles brought back quarterback A.J. Feeley on Wednesday and released quarterback Koy Detmer and receiver Todd Pinkston. The signing of Feeley, released earlier this week by San Diego, completes a profitable cycle for Philadelphia. The Eagles originally drafted him in the fifth round in 2001 and he started five games in 2002, leading the team to four wins when Donovan McNabb and Detmer were both sidelined with injuries. He was traded to Miami after the 2003 season for a second-round draft pick that the Eagles subsequently used to pick wide receiver Reggie Brown, currently a starter. Now they get him back without surrendering a player or a pick. Pinkston, entering his seventh season, appeared to be on his way out when the Eagles traded for receiver Donte Stallworth on Monday. Pinkston missed last year with a torn Achilles' tendon and battled soreness in both ankles during training camp. He caught one pass for 4 yards in the preseason. Detmer had spent the last nine seasons with the Eagles, but the team signed Jeff Garcia in the offseason to be McNabb' insurance policy. If he can be brought in for cheap, I wouldn't mind giving Pinkston a try.
Why would you want to touch this guy? If MOST of you on this board do not like JMac...Pinkston is worse. Alligator arms when going over the middle, won't take a hit, and has trouble getting off the line... Pass.
I'd rather have Dante Ridgeway start than this clown. Clearly he's a wimp, injury prone and has stone hands. Yeah, he's just what we need.
Aside from his famous "alligator arms" play, it's worth noting that Pinkston more or less singlehandedly cost the Eagles the 2004 NFC Championship with his poor route running and drops. I can't believe that people are actually lobbying for him. Reading a little too much Len Pastabelli I think...
i would be happy if yall got pinky, but seriously with some of the hard hitters on defense in the AFC east, I doubt he comes to ANY team here.
I can't believe some people actually want him on this team... He's AWFUL! If you think McCareins drops balls, wait until you see this guy in action.
What a great video. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like that, not only does he hear the footsteps, but he sharply veers out of the guys way even when he's given up on the ball.
