The Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints have significantly reshaped the landscape of the 2022 and 2023 NFL drafts. In a trade Monday that included eight overall picks, the Eagles are set to send the Nos. 16 and 19 picks in the first round to the Saints, who will send the No. 18 pick this year and a 2023 first-round selection back to Philadelphia. The Eagles also will receive third- and seventh-round picks this year as well as a second-round pick in 2024, while the Saints will receive a sixth-round pick in 2022.
I’m still processing what the fuck this deal is. The Saints are trying to make one last push before they have to move on and blow it up. The Eagles get a lot of picks so it makes sense but at the same time, it somewhat pushes their team build down the road quite a bit.
Certainly makes you wonder just how much faith the Eagles have in Jalen Hurts. If he doesn't take a major step forward this season, those picks could make a nice package to get a high pick as his replacement.
I'm think the Saints are positioning themselves to get a 1st round QB and a top linemen. Similar to what we did last season.
