Is it me or was he not on the field much after his holding penalty?

Wouldn't surprise me. I guess they thought it was important to give Bubba Franks some reps. :(

Did teams just figure this guy out? He hasn't gotten nearly the amount of plays called to him as he did a few weeks ago.

I ask if they figure him out because there were a couple times yesterday where he was on the field...he started heading upfield...Favre looked his way...and there'd be like 3 guys around Keller.

I wonder how comfortable Keller is with lining up wide.

I'm surprised the Jets TE didn't have a productive day. In that kind of weather I'd think you'd want to look for a big target on short passes. I don't know why they weren't used more often. Keller and Baker had 1 catch each for the entire game.

I think Mangini is just being hard on him after that "key drop" in San Francisco and the holding call...I know he's a rookie and you want them to be accountable for their mistakes but come on, he's a matchup nightmare!

He didnt see the field much after the holding penalty.
Such is the coaching philosophy of Eric Mangini --- if you do something wrong, they basically take you out of the game. Not much coaching or teaching really involved with that. Just the old "take you out to the barn" punishment method.
Consequently, I wouldnt be surprised to see a healthy Dustin Keller on the Inactive List next week.

Think Clowney might be deactivated for running too fast?

I've noticed that too with a number of guys. Mangini seems petty and holds a grudge against players who make a mistake on the field. But it's how you come back after a mistake that shows your character. And Mangini takes them out of the game and never lets them redeem themselves.

Maybe if Mangini had actually played in the NFL he'd realize how bad this strategy is.

It would also help if he actually talked to the players & other coaches on the sidelines.

He needs to start chewing a new brand of gum........one that wouldnt give him such lockjaw.

This is what he did with J-Mil and it went on for two years! The guy is a controlling abusive mf dictator and deserves to be thrown off a cliff.

What's absurd is the fact that when one of our best playmakers is on the field (keller), he runs the same fucking route every time. He runs straight, finds the defender supposed to be guarding him, and basically posts up on him. It's not what this guy should be doing. He should be taking that LB and stretching the field. It's a joke.

Keller was one of the few bright spots on this team and Mangini, instead of taking blame for the teams woes himself, took the cowards way out by called out a rookie in the media for not performing. I don't know what bizarro world this fat clown lives in, but Keller was the least of our problems. In fact, although he was far from perfect, the guy is a weapon and a spark and you do not deny your team that kind of playmaker.

It looked like Dustin was struggling to get open yesterday when he was playing. Probably due to the playcalling it part. Also, Bubba Franks played yesterday and probably took some time away. Bubba dropped that one pass that could have been taken for a first down.

Exactly. How about designing routes other than the same two he always runs?

Speaking of routes, I think the predictability of that team yesterday (and previous games) was a joke. I haven't watched the tape again and gone through every formation, but from what I remember, we ran 2WR and 2TE, 4 wide from the shotgun, or the I formation. Thats it? We never had receivers in a bunch formation, and rarely had 3 WR on the field. What good does 2WR and 2TE do against a cover 2 zone, especially given our TE's run 3yds and stop routes? I'm really fed up with Schotty. I would have thought after the Pats game that Favre loved the guy...Now I'm wondering if he thinks Schotty is retarded??? And don't get me wrong, Brett was just as bad yesterday. But I just feel that no one gives a damn on that team. I'm sure someone will shoot down my formation argument, but I just think it's way too predictable. It looked to be like 90% of the time it was an I formation run, or a 2WR/ 2TE formation. Thats way too easy to defend, and you wonder why Brett was pumping and moving and ducking, trying to find SOMEONE open. But there was no one...We suck.

They got Franks because he is 6'6'' and they hoped he would help in the red zone, a weak area for Chad. Once Chad was gone there was no reason for Franks to be on the roster.

so Favre's production in the Red Zone during his career with Franks had nothing to do with it???

Do you believe the things you write?
