So I was browsing NFL.com for various stats, when I came across something interesting. Dustin Keller is in the Top 10 list as far as statistics go for Tight Ends in the NFL this season. This is a list that includes Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten, Dallas Clark, and Antonio Gates, among a few others.

His stats are something worth mentioning as well, with 3 TD's, 460 Yards, with an 11.5 Average. These come from only 10 games! Currently he ranks 9th among TE's in the NFL. However with another 100-200 yards, it should thrust him into the top 5.

I have a feeling he's going to be a big player for us come Playoff time, especially if we end up having to play Baltimore. I'm surprised more "Professional Analysists aren't talking about him.

shocking how well he is playing. I expected a great year from Keller. but i was hoping for about 250 yards maybe a td or two.

this is outstanding the kid walks into the NFL and is top ten in the league? talk about finding a stud.

When this franchises scout team locks onto a guy they deem a must have, and they make a trade up to get him, they have yet to be wrong...

Mangold, Revis, Harris, and now Keller.

the two first round picks we have had that we stood pat on, brick and Gholston. Brick has come a long way, and is going to be great for us for the next few years. Gholston, well we have to give him time to prove something still....

Keller is top 5 for those that classify him as a TE. Many including myself consider him a WR. Marques Colston is similiar TE/WR. Im ok with either one this kid can play.It kind of pacifies me on the #6 pick in Gholston for now.

very good point, other than our fourth round picks, the picks we traded up to get have all been great successes. I think that maybe our early first round picks haven't been quite as good because the fans would yell at the staff if they didn't pick who was projected to be picked. It's almost as if the analysts make the pick for them.

he will be one of the best tight ends in the league for a long time. if he can learn to block it would be even better.

if you notice our mentality other then we draft in the top 5 where we took the best player available, we have made a habit of taking the best college player at his position.
Often there are runs on running back, DE, DB's- certain positions better and deeper then others is the opinion.
anyway what we have done is taken the best player at a position-
revis had DE< and RB ahead of him Wr, but was best CB in college
Mangold- lots of defensive players ranked higher- but #1 center
Harris- many OLB, De's etc.. but best 3-4 in side backer in college
    Keller same again this year.
I think it is great and important we have a system we seem to be working within, you can argue and say well its because of position of need, but that is really not case- we took Harris to play spot we already had vilma and we took keller where we had baker and franks
this regime is into taking best player at there position and guys who rank football high on there list.
The method is working and hope if keeps up,
they might have missed on gholston but lets wait and see.

he'd have more td passes too but i think he dropped 2. i'm not criticizing him here i think he's awesome. he's only gonna get better as time goes on. late first round draft picks are so much better then top ten picks in my opinion. so much of a downside with those high picks.

agreed unless you believe you have a sure fire guy sitting there for you in the top ten, trade the hell out of it. If you have any doubts about a guy you are taking top 10, dont take him, and either trade back or pass... as I have said before numerous times, that offer Baltimore got from the Jags was amazing, and well worth giving up the 6 spot for. alas, gholston is who we have, so time to cheer him on, cuz turning him into a cry baby like vince young is just going to make him suck, not quit what guy promised 20 million dollars, is just going to quit his job because he doesnt like it?

Keller is a TE, and Colston is a WR, end of story. TEs may have gotten more athlethic, do much more things and be a much more important part in the passinggame, but there is still a clear line, that seperates a TE from a big posession WR like Colston.

He's looking to be a great pick. My initial reaction to the Keller pick was that they could have waited and picked up a WR at the slot in the 2nd round. There's no telling which WR the Jets would have drafted or how that rookie would play, but Keller's contributions are making the pick look better and better.

Guys a beast. No doubt in my mind he'll eventually be a top 5 TE in this league.

He has only become a Favre favorite in the last 3 or 4 weeks. I would love to see his stats if he was over an entire year. He could certainly be a Gates type TE in time or at least close to it.

We finally drafted an Impact Rookie!!!! It's about damn time. Too bad we didn't trade down from the 6th spot and grabbed Flacco late in the first as well...

It was obvious when they drafted him that they weren't looking for just another pass catcher, or else they would have just stayed put and drafted one of the many top WR prospects who plummeted. He adds a completely different dynamic to the offense than a WR would. The Titans game was a perfect example, he drew 3 flags on their D because they couldn't find a way to cover him. He's going to be a special player.
