Dustin reveals some things we always thought about schotty. Ryan also carefully says we never got a rhythm. Some quotes I found interesting.

"Last year, we were more than anything a really game-plan specific team, so things may have switched from game to game," Keller said. "You may see a heavy running game one game and throwing the ball 70 times the next. But I think we know who we are now, we’re a power football team that can throw the ball and we’re just trying to sharpen that up now."

"Obviously every week you're going to have to restudy the plays that are in and learn it all. But you know for the most part what you're going to be doing. You're probably going to be a little bit more comfortable with it."

Ryan said. "I never thought we found a rhythm, especially earlier in the season, running the football.

Mods, feel free to move this to another thread about offensive strategy if you feel it's more productive.

The key quote here to me was finding a rhythm, the one thing I'll knock Schotty for is his inability to get the team in a rhythm consistently. If Sparano can get this offense in that rhythm, we'll see more execution, and there-fore a better offense

    Let's hope to God

i always hated schotty for this reason.most successful teams have an identity.they came out and ran the same plays all season and didn't care if you knew what was coming because they knew how to execute and they were going to beat you.schotty never trusted execution and tried to outsmart everyone
for this reason alone,i think the offense is going to be much better i am thinking top 15,which should be enough to make a deep playoff run

funny, in 09 and in 2010, we had an identity, the rushing numbers prove that.

but last season Shotty was all over the place, D.G.M.W. I'm happy Shotty is gone, and very happy with the direction of our offense.

    But it's not Schottenheimer's fault.

If you do one thing really well it doesn't matter if the opponent knows what's coming. Stop it if you can, it's coming.

Yep, Peyton Manning and the Colts did it for years.

    And won exactly ONE ring.

Better example would be Cowboys of the 90's, and Emmitt Smith with Lead Draw

The Colts winning exactly one ring wasnt because of their offense

It was because their defense sucked cock

Which has nothing to do with their offense doing the same thing over and over

Wow, really ? The Cowboys won those SBs because they ran the lead draw ?? Kind of thought they had a lot more variation to their offense than that.

Cowboys running game was not very diverse. However, their qb & overall passing game was way too good for a defense to stack the box consistently.

The obvious key to establishing the run is going to be the offensive line and their ability to dominate the line of scrimmage. And also sticking to the run even if its not netting first downs early in games. Shonne Green needs to play like he did in the playoff run. Is there another back in FA that could be signed to take some of the carries/pounding off of Green? A Cedric Benson type or will it be Joe McKnight more featured.
