I didn't see this posted yet. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/...lt=AtTtvwCEtJOhYy.ZePgtoVJDubYF?urn=nfl,76400 Jets, Broncos may finally swing deal for Robertson Dewayne Robertson Getty Images Newday reports the on again, off again deal that would send New York Jets defensive lineman Dewayne Robertson to the Denver Broncos could be finalized on draft weekend. The Jets would sent Robertson to Denver for a second-day selection in the upcoming draft. The Jets want to move Robertson to free up some cash to sign draft choices. According to the report, Robertson and the Broncos already have a new contract in place for just such an occasion. Source: Newsday We don't need the cap room until sometime in May or June when the "bill" is due but this deal is coming to a close and compensation is getting closer. More picks, more chances to draft that next big star- no knowing this FO- more picks to trade up and get that sure-fire star.
I would be happy with a move up say a 6 to a 4 or a 4th and a 2009 pick. Denver doesnt have a 3rd this year
I'd be happy to get that monster deal off our books and get a nice fruitbasket in return. Any pick above a 7th is bonus time.
Broncos don't have a 3rd round pick. Our best hope would be their 4th and 6th, or that CB they were shopping and one of their 5ths. Something along those lines, and I would be happy with either.
i get the feeling its gonna be a fourth they have two of them... At this point anything is better than just dumping him. Plus we have had some luck in the fourth round in the past.
This has to be one of the best offseasons the Jets have ever had (note I said ONE of). 1) Sign Faneca, Pace, Woody, Chatman, Robinson, and Franks. 2) Re-sign Kerry Rhodes long term. 3) Hire Callahan one of the best Oline coaches in the league. 4) Settle on an agreement with Coles to make him happy for a few years. 5) Trade for Jenkins. 6) Trade away Vilma. Who is a good player but has a bum knee and doesn't fit the system. Getting good value when they can. *7) Trade DRob, getting rid of his horrendous contract. - Not final though. And all this BEFORE the draft. I guess you can also add in their new training/practice facility being ahead of schedule, allowing the team to move in faster. Tanny has been a busy busy man. Fantastic offseason.
I will be surprised if we get anything earlier than a six. The Broncos know we're going to cut him, they know he's going to fail physicals, and they know they have no competition. I think it's going to be a six. -X-
If I May Advance This Thread A Little Bit... Okay, so, let's say this trade goes thru Draft Day. Who cares what the Broncos do with the 6th pick, it's theirs now. Now, the Jets are sitting at #12. Bills are picking #11 and some scouts got them taking a wideout with that pick. Jets are on the clock. Mendenhall is projected to go to either the Panthers picking #13, and if not, Mendenhall would MOST CERTAINLY be taken #14 by the Chicago Bears (I assume and some scouts have them taking Mendenhall as well). So, the question is, do the Jets draft Mendenhall knowing this is their best chance at him? Even tho he doesn't really fill a need? Or, do they take the likes of DE Derrick Harvey? Or WR DeSean or Limas Sweed? Or any other opinions?!
I agree, they have been on the ball and running most of this offseason. We usually get crickets and tumbleweeds. Not this year. Hard not to be at least a little excited to get back in it next year.
Just a question... but how did the first round pick get traded to the Broncos... It seems here most were talking about a 6th round pick, not the 6th overall... am I missing something????
