Jets | D. Coleman signed Sat, 22 Jul 2006 16:00:14 -0700 The New York Jets have signed sixth-round draft pick CB Drew Coleman to an undisclosed contract.
We'll see with Coleman, he's got a chance to make the team as an extra DB but he's got an uphill battle with Barrett, Dyson, Miller, Strait, and Mickens most likely ahead of him on the depth chart. If we go with 10 DBs, which we've done in the past, then maybe he can make it since we're not too deep at safety.
Coleman supposively had a very good mini camp. I really like his speed/agility combo from everything I have read. I believe he will be competing w/ Strait, Barret and Mickens for a roster spot...and don't think him being one of Mangini's "Picks" won't play into things. I expect him to make the team and be a very good nickel back/special teamer for us. As for the safety position, we certainly wont be carrying 5 guys..Smith will surely make the team as will Rhodes..so that leaves Maddox, Coleman and Washington. Look for Washington and Maddox to fight for the final spot.
They wouldn't have signed him just to cut him two months later. So if anyone gets cut it's Coleman and placed on PS.
