I believe the draft is not strong for TEs but is it worth entertaining the idea of adding another TE? I see the following advantages -Keller in more of a WR role if we decide not to add a WR which can contribute in the short term -more viable threat in double TE packages in Soprano's run-oriented Offense and hopefully a better blocking ability than Keller's -hopefully good value (of course depending on the player and where he's drafted) Also not knowing the prospects too well myself - are there player which you see as an option for the JETS in such a role?
I agree with this entirely. There's just too many need positions this point -- OT, OLB, FS -- just to name a few. In an ideal situation, it would be nice to get a blocker to compliment Keller. Then again, a blocking TE might actually block better than Hunter...
Terry Bradway was saying in the press conference yesterday that the college game simply isn't producing tight ends that they can use.
The spread offense is killing the TE and FB position as we know it. Those that do play TE are generally "oversized" WR who catch well, but are too large to play on the outside. Either that or if they're athletic enough, they're moved to DE/LB.
We got Keller, Cumberland and just signed that rugby player as well. I don't really see us going after a TE.
